Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Stepchange have really helped us.

Stepchange have really helped us. It was so hard before and we felt really overwhelmed. It’s such a relief now having someone else managing it for us. All that stress has been taken away. It definitely feels like a weight has been lifted and we’re on our way to becoming debt free. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

Debts consolidated but DMP isn’t much less

Working with StepChange has been pretty good. Updating my monthly outgoing and change of debt information is a breeze. The only negative is around having a Debt Management Plan. The DMP hasn’t really left me any better off each month. At most I roughly pay £100-£200 less than I was paying and my disposable income feels so small that I can’t go on holidays and can barely save any money towards my emergency fund as all of it is going towards my debts, groceries and car upkeep. I wish companies like this also provided preparation advice for managing other outgoings whilst on a DMP. I think Christian’s against poverty provide such a service. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

Supportive, non-judgemental

Take that first step for peace of mind

I was at my wits end wondering how I was going to manage my debts when a change in circumstances left me with a lot less money coming in .Step change offered me support and reassurance setting up affordable monthly payments dealing with everything and contacting all my creditors.
