Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

StepChange Changed My Life

I came to StepChange at one of the darkest points in my life. I was 20 years old, addicted, overwhelmed by debt, in and out of psych wards, and stuck in a cycle of avoiding everything. I had taken on extreme amounts of credit card debt just to take cash out and spend a few more weeks forgetting my problems. Joining StepChange was the turning point. They helped me face the situation, set up a plan, and supported me every step of the way without judgment. They gave me the structure and clarity I needed to start turning things around. I'm now 22 and nearly done with the debt I was once drowning in. I'm clean, stable, and moving forward. StepChange wasn't just a debt solution, they were part of my recovery journey, even when they hadn't intended to be. It was such a relief to be able to tell StepChange I was going to miss a payment because something came up, and they handled it.
