Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

A money advice organisation that put you first

My experience has been really positive. From the start, they treated me like a human being rather than just another account, which made a huge difference. They took the time to explain all of the options available to me in a clear and compassionate way, helping me make informed decisions without feeling pressured. The payment management process has been straightforward, and the platform is very easy to use and navigate, which has made staying on top of everything much less stressful. I also really appreciate the regular check-ins — it shows they genuinely care and want to support you throughout the process. Overall, a professional, understanding, and supportive service. Hope and light

Drowning in debt and very depressed.

I was drowning in debt and very depressed. I was spending to relieve the depression but each time the ‘buzz’ of spending was very short lived and of course adding to the already heavy burden. It was counter productive and a form of self destruction. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

StepChange completely transformed my life

StepChange have completely transformed my life, without them I would never be able to say these words……. I am completely debt free. Zero, nothing, nil. Now I can get my life back on track and no longer feel that I’m not going to survive another month without the worry of being unable to pay a bill. I don’t know what we would have done without them!

To be debt free

I had multiple debts and didn't know what to do or let alone how to deal with them, I then turned to Stepchange for help and help me they certainly did, they brought all my debts together to from one lump sum, and with them, I then agreed to a monthly payment plan and now slowly but surely I'm slowly becoming debt free and that feels great.
