Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Just a thought

This was a difficult decision but the best!...

This was a difficult decision but the best decision made with the help from Step Change, don’t be like me and wait a couple more months to decide, get their help to manage your payments into smaller bundles and look forward to becoming debt free at the end of your plan, there really is no hassle from anyone and I’ve felt so much better and had a little more to manage everyday life with the rising cost of living, things can only get better once I complete my plan with them and finally be debt free! They are always available to help either in person or online whichever you feel more comfortable with, trust me it will be the best thing you do to help you feel better daily and have a light at the end of that dark debt tunnel! Steph change Review

Steph change was very easy to set up online. No longggg phone calls which really helps from other companies. They are a little bit slow at email replies or don't email back at all. I would say that needs improving. Staff are friendly and helpful. The other thing is, I would give customers a little bit more flexibility on when they can pay on a date that sorts them. Worth then a date you are told. As some of us are on benefits and can only pay on a set date! Reviewed on: 28th May 2026

5 year review

I have been on a debt repayment plan now with Step Change for 5 years, consolidating 4 x debts into one easy to manage monthly payment which I can alter myself at anytime should my income fluctuate. Highly recommended, peace of mind, removes stress and empowers you as the payee to take control of your finances. Reviewed on: 28th May 2026
