Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Nearly Debt Free thanks to Stepchange

MY wife Died in 2019 after 5yrs battling Cancer I was very low and stupidly through gambling and not generally giving a damn built up a large debt..Once I came to my senses I realized I had to take a grip on my Finances an the easy option would have been to go Bankrupt but I wanted to do the decent thing and pay back what I owed! I contacted Stepchange as they had been recommended and after going through my income and Debts they recommended a Debt Management Plan which my many creditors agreed to...I started my plan about 3 yrs back and I am in a great place now where it is due to end in Jan 2026 and every month the debts are dropping off as they are settled. Step change totally changed my life

Awful - Just made everything so much worst.

Just made everything so much worst. I things that were meant to be added to my plan weren't. I was given mis information told different things by different people. And i get more letters now from my lenders than i ever got before. Im 100 tomes more stressed with no end in sight. And i still can't afford my debt.
