Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

StepChange literally changed my life.

To say that StepChange changed my life would be an understatement. I had amassed debts through no real fault of my own (reduced family income along with redundancy and a critical illness in my family), but was losing sleep and worrying about how I could possibly replay back what I owed. StepChange supported me with a realistic debt management plan with my creditors where I could afford monthly payments while stopping interest accruing at a frightening rate. I have almost paid it off now, but my credit score has already improved again which means I have options and hope for the future for me and my family. I should have made these decisions even earlier but was embarrassed. StepChange restored my dignity throughout the whole process - for the first time, I did not feel alone with dealing with my debts. StepChange have changed my life .

StepChange have been fantastic, they took the stress out of managing my debt which has really helped me. The process is easy to follow, the online portal is user friendly and has lots of information. They take you step by step through everything! Simple, quick & reassuring

It's been great & fairly simple setting it up & them working out all the budgeting. Also slightly reassuring you have the support of someone else in these difficult times. I was worrying about debt, then heard about step change, hesitated for a few weeks kept thinking about it and then contacted them. I really wish I done it sooner it has helped me sort finances and contacting companies. Would absolutely recommend if you are worrying don’t hesitate. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

Very helpful and understanding staff, I no longer feel alone when dealing with my debt, I feel so much calmer and happy with the resolution that we came to together, with a payment plan that I can manage, staff liaise with all my creditors so I don't have to. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025
