Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Using Step Change truly changed my life and release...

Using Step Change truly changed my life and released me from sleepless nights and constant worry. As soon as I took my head out of the sand and I made the decision to access the services I felt better. The process was easy and Step Change handled everything. I get regular updates on what I owe and feel fully in control. My only regret is not doing it sooner. I have two years left on a 6 year plan. If I’d done it sooner the debt would have been less and I’d be paid off by now. If you can’t see a way out - act now and seek help. Reviewed on: 28th May 2026

It was a difficult situation I found myself in but I was put at ease from the first contact. We all think we are the only ones in this situation! We went through all my incomings and outgoings and although it was going to be difficult we got to a figure that was accepted by all.
