Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

A well-informed and supportive helping hand

I was very confused and anxious about what I should do. The options explained by StepChange were clear and very helpful. StepChange negotiated monthly payments with my creditors and this was a huge help. I now pay an agreed monthly amount which StepChange divides among the creditors. However, I am still struggling, as the cost of essentials, energy and council tax has risen, and this has wiped out the increase in my state pension. I am hoping StepChange can shortly help me to come to a new arrangement with my creditors and I am gratefyl for the calm support and advice the advisors offer. Reviewed on: 6th June 2025

Stepchange offer an amazing service.

Stepchange offer an amazing service. It was so straightforward to get started and the team explained everything so simply to me. All my options were laid out with time frames as well as outcomes after each option. Fabulous! My only issue, and it's something of nothing, was contacting via phone. Emails were fine, but the opening hours seemed to change and as someone who worked 9-5 it was often hard to get in touch with the wait times included. Over all though I would 100% recommend anyone who is struggling to get in touch and talk through their options. Reviewed on: 6th June 2025
