Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Literally saved my life

Literally saved my life, I got myself into a total mess with cards and loans, it has got to the point we’re suicide felt like my only way out. But one call to stepchange and they got everything sorted in half an hour. Within thirty minutes my life went from “this is the end” to there’s a solution and I can afford to eat again.
