Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Therapeutic and Helpful

Like in the darkness of debt

Like many, the burden of debt was getting too much and I contacted step change. Everything was easy to set-up, they took care of building a budget and setting affordable payments, contacting creditors and, on their website, allowing you to see how much you have paid, to whom and how long until debt free. Getting into debt was a major mistake in my life but StepChange were a real light in the dark. Reviewed on: 28th May 2025

I didn’t want to be faced with the situation of debt...

I didn’t want to be faced with the situation of debt management but the past year being on my plan has been less stress & anxiety. The plan has been easy to set up and paying one payment has been beneficial. I had struggled beforehand trying to speak to my creditors and some were helpful but not all have been. With this in place everyone knows what my position is. I feel guilty for being in this position but it can’t be helped when situations change and I am more accepting of this and hope to continue to be able to pay more as time moves on. Highly recommended

StepChange helped me to manage my finances so that I know exactly what I need to budget for, they also eased a lot of my worries by dealing directly with the creditors which helped with the stress of my debt worries. The advisers does his work professionally.

The advisers are very patient and good listeners and help you not have anxiety by explaining to you how they are able to assist you when having financial difficulties. I have been provided ongoing debt advice relating to my financial situation. I do appreciate the service provided and continue to look forward to be assisted as my financial matters.
