When signing Getting a credit card recently felt a bit like trying to get into a VIP club… except the bouncer was my credit score, and let’s just say it wasn’t impressed with my outfit (or my life choices during Covid). Like many people, the pandemic hit my finances hard. Being on furlough meant juggling bills, cutting back where I could, and occasionally pretending that “adding to basket” didn’t count as spending if I never checked out. Unfortunately, my credit file took a bit of a hit during that time, and since then, trying to get credit has felt like repeatedly hearing, “Thanks, but no thanks.” So when I was approved for my Zopa credit card, I genuinely felt like I’d won the financial lottery… or at least been allowed back into the game. What I’ve really appreciated is how straightforward everything has been. No confusing jargon, no nasty surprises—just clear information that actually makes sense (which, let’s be honest, is rare in the world of finance). It’s helped me start rebuilding my credit with a bit more confidence and a lot less stress. I’ll admit, I still check my app more often than I check my social media—mainly because I’m so determined not to mess this up. Growth, right? On a serious note, having access to credit again has made a big difference. It’s not just about spending; it’s about having a chance to rebuild, to prove that a tough period doesn’t define your future, and to feel a bit more in control again. So yes, my credit journey may have had a dramatic plot twist thanks to Covid, but thanks to Zopa, it finally feels like I’m heading towards a much happier ending (with hopefully fewer plot twists and definitely fewer “declined” messages).
