Dreadful treatment. No recovery. Use a different company.

As I write it is near midnight. I'm waiting for an urgent recovery phoned in at 6.20pm. I explained clearly that my motorbike was unsafe to ride and I needed recovery. 2 hours later someone who knew nothing about bikes turned up, without a recovery van. I used my own tools and had to show him where the battery was. He couldn't even get it off its stand.
Recovery was initially estimated another 2 hours later, and this was then moved to 5am the following day!!
Despite calls to the AA letting them know I was a woman on my own, in the dark and did not feel safe. Several phone calls later this estimate was moved to 11pm.
Eventually I abandoned the bike, leaving keys to be collected. Some other idiot has just turned up at the breakdown site and says he can't load the bike onto the trailer.
I've just been told the new estimate is 48 hours, because I'm not with the bike now, despite being advised to leave it for my own safety and being assured it would be recovered by 11pm.
So, after hours of shifting estimates which meant I had to stay with the vehicle, without water, a toilet and a dwindling phone battery, my bike is now left, keys under the tank on a dangerous and busy road and it may or may not turn up sometime over the next two days.
Incompetence does not even begin to describe this bunch of clowns.
None of them care or communicate with each other, so each person you deal with is worse than useless and disdainful in their indifference.
I was not told when requesting recovery that they would not send a recovery van.
I was lied to about estimates.
I was not told that leaving would mean possibly waiting a further 48 hours.
I was told they had prioritised and outsourced the job as I was in a vulnerable position. That too was a lie.
To pay for something called a service, which does you the disservice of causing undue stress, wasting your time and complicating the situation at every turn, is an insult and a theft.
Things only got worse. Following a call for urgent recovery at 18.20 my motorbike was eventually dumped on the pavement outside my house, with no phone call, at 5am the next day! The top box was left not just unlocked but open, with a £200 helmet inside and the keys left with the bike without my permission. I had to push the bike to the nearest bay and start all over again to get it recovered to a garage.

Days later I'm waiting for a recovery to take my bike to a garage. The estimates are shifting...here we go again.

Unfortunately we overpaid our last statement and 6 weeks later we are still awaiting our money back all because Michael is not good typing in account numbers and sent our money to someone else’s bank account number. We are now going to have to go to a solicitor and try to claim our money back. Please do not use this company as their customer service is rude and unhelpful and they steal your money. Very disappointed with such a large company and there procedures.

i would not touch this insurance with a barge pole. them and the garage work together to rip people off. I had a perfectly good car and they decided to write it off along with Bodykraft their repairer who over estimate repairs big time. I will not be having insurance through AA again and unless you have a AA approved repairer on your door step don't bother. mine was 55 miles away so I couldn't do anything about it hands tied.

I have bought AA breakdown cover back in 2016. Since then, they automatically renewed it without any notification for 2 years (they have my full details and an email). Upon calling they just say that they sent letters - of course, why use emails in this time and age?.. i never received any letters, but how can anyone prove anything as they dont bother using recorded delivery, and now AA has 300 pounds extra for free. Absolutely shocked, such scammers still exist. Searching online you can see that there are quite a few people who were scammed that way. Will be sending official complaints.

My suspension spring broke on the front of my car also causing the shock absorber to fail. So I phoned the AA when the incident first occurred and asked if I am fully covered, the response was words to the effect of "yes, most likely you are covered".

The AA then had my car towed to a garage of their choice who informed me they could only source after market parts.
So, I asked my insurance company if they would be happy with that. They clearly expressed they would not be, they also expressed for safety and roadworthy purposes both sides of the suspension should be replaced. The garage confirmed this stance too. So I had to source and pay for the parts to hand to the garage to fit, remember this is the garage the AA has approved and organised my recovery with.

But then the claim starts with the AA, Karl in the claims department in particular, seemed to be belligerent in his view and would not budge from the letter of the AA's policy, i.e only pay for the part that broke. So in my view they would be prepared to have the car repaired to an unsafe condition and not cover the cost of the repair to put the car back on the road safely. Karl seemed to stand by the AA's policy and would not consider otherwise, thus representing the AA. All this despite me having to pay for the parts myself because the garage the AA chose could not source them and the AA initially stating words to the effect of "yes, most likely, you are covered".

In the end I am now over £800 out of pocket, plus what I have been paying for AA 'Maintenance cover' for my wife and myself. No longer, its not worth the aggravation with the AA and I will not allow them to jeopardise the safety of my family or myself. All in all the AA breakdown / maintenance cover takes a typical insurance money first stance and is not all you think it will be to protect you in my view.

That TV advert they run with small child in the car singing…. make your own mind up….. Big wheels keep on turning…. you over

Terrible experience. Drawn out process, customer service awful.  Nobody returns calls, even Managers when a formal complaint has been logged. Extremely slow, all done via post, spent a fortune of sending documents special delivery and calling their 0345 where you are left waiting for ages.  Much higher APR offered than advertised. Worst experience and would definitely not recommend. AA should stick to repairing cars.

I have been trying to resolve an issue with the AA for two days. I purchased a new car and asked the AA to arrange cover on the car. I was going from an Astra GTC to a standard Astra Elite so you would think that was easy but no. I was told at first that the agent could not complete the transfer due to systems issues and would call me back. I never received a call and when I called them I was told that the insurer would not be able to insure the new car, no reason as to why other than its not a car they cover so why I wonder was I currently insured by then on the same make of car? I am still awaiting a call back absolutely diabolical service. As I write this I have been on hold for 30 minutes to speak to the com[plaints department.

I recently took out car insurance.
A deposit was taken which is fine.
I called to cancel my policy within the 14 day cooling off period to be advised there would be an outstanding balance to pay.
How can there be a balance to pay when I have already paid a deposit and then cancelled within 14 day's.
I then look at my bank account and a transaction by AA has been taken out of my original payment card.
This was the first time I have used this company and will be the last.
Complete robbery...

I phoned to arrange car insurance, simply because they offer 10% off as i had taken their house insurance { that was REALLY bad too, but i didnt know at the time!] and the man on the phone took a really long time going through all the questions....I am an artist, so every second is a brushstroke not done......when he asked about my work [ I am 73] i said 'painter, and part time art tutor ,as artists tend to describe their work as , eg painting, sculpture, printmaking, etc.....so when the documents arrived yesterday, ,it said that i was a painter/decorator. I was mildly amused, and phoned to correct it. they said that that would be an additional £51 !!!I got that down to £26 or so...BUT, it was their fault, and how on earth could an artist, painting at home,cost them more

It is now almost 4 weeks since we made a claim for a broken lap top screen and still we have no decision as to whether our claim will be honoured. We have had to do a lot of chasing, been promised call backs which never transpire and get pillar to posted between organisation and underwriter. The staff seem very young and not well trained with little authority to make any decisions. Don't be sucked in by the price because if you do have to make a claim then you will probably, like us, be using you had paid a bit more to get a better service. Will definitely not be renewing with them or recommending to worse enemy.
