Diabolical company for car insurance. Started AA car insurance policy and sent off previous no claims proof - they came back with "Please be advised before we can accept your no claims bonus we need to know what has happened to vehicle !!!! The expiry date on your no claims bonus proof is 11/07/2017, and your policy started with us on 25/05/2017. Please provide a brief explanation for this. - hadn't even got the correct policy number etc. Had an non fault accident 2 months later - dealt with it ok on day 1 - from then on diabolical service. Vehicle was written off and figure agreed - said it would take 3-5 working days to credit bank. 3-5 working days rang and was told another 3-5 working days - each time we rang was told a different story. on 31.8.17 rang with query on when we eventually get another vehicle would we be charge - was told that provided it was the same vehicle it is was within 30 days of vehicle payout no extra charges would be incurred. 23.9.17 rang with exactly same vehicle and they stuck £62 on policy - I had logged conversation on 31.8.17 and stated this to them. Off they went to find the recording and came back it had conveniently been lost. So a customer gets insurance and is inconvenienced when someone pulls out and writes your car off and they see it as an opportunity to get some extra money out of you - absolutely disgusting company - don't ever go with them. I also be changing my breakdown cover as well with an alternative company

Poor claims handling

My wife's car was hit by a lorry on a roundabout. The haulage company denied any knowledge, then admitted involvement but denied liability as there were no witnesses. AA insurance refused to pursue and agreed 50/50 liability with the third party. £150 excess and £100 pa increase in premiums!

It's easy to get a quote and to complete the application via the internet....

It's easy to get a quote and to complete the application via the internet.
They send you email confirmation that your cover has gone through successfully and all the details for it.
It's easy to add to your cover (such as cover for cruises or more 'dangerous' activites) as well as reducing your cover (such as excluding countries if you are going outside the EU (so need worldwide cover) but are not going to every country!).
They have a quick and easy helpline which don't put you on hold for ages and managed to sort my query within a matter of about 3-4minutes.
Not the cheapest of cover, but definitely worth the extra expense for the additional cover and ease of service! Touch wood I never have to claim though!

8 hours to be recovered in at night in the rain

Broke down on the on the m6 north bound a mile from Keel services at 10.10 pm it was raining and the motorway was unlit phoned the AA was told somebody would be with me within the hour after waiting on the bank for nearly 2 hours in bushes soaking wet and with numb feet and hands rung them again and was told somebody would be there soon I raised my voice a bit saying I wasn't happy and was told there was nothing she could do and if I didn't calm down she would hang up 

I am disabled and it was now gone 12 am waited another hour so this was 3 hours in total rung again at 1 pm and was told again somebody would be there shortly I told her I was disabled and I had been waiting in the rain in wet bushes and I was shivering and was told what do you want me to do about it so she hung up after 4 hours somebody finally turned up put my car on a low loader and took me and my car the 1 mile to Keel services and left me there 

After nearly 2 hours someone turned up in a van couldn't get my car started so had to wait over an hour for another low loader to take me the 40 miles home got there at 6 am 8 hours to take a car 40 miles 

I had paid extra for the best cover onward travel free hire car hotel room ect I had to go to the doctors the following day as I was unwell 

I was not recovered by the AA it was a contractor who green flag and the RAC use so you are better off saving money and using one of them I was lucky my health never suffered any long term damage using the AA 8 hours to be recovered 40 miles in the dark and when it's was raining the said I was a priority the same as it would of been if it would of been somebody who was elderly of somebody with young children

Iv been with the AA for over a year now and always been happy with the service. The only negative thing I have to say is the last time I used them I didn't get a courtesy car when I needed it and had to wait till the morning which meant I had to make my own way to my destination which was at 12am has my friend not came to pick me up I don't know what I would have done. However I think that the person in the office wasn't aware of the no refusal policy they have with enterprise cars.

I had a slight knock last summer whilst on holiday. My car was the worst off and I removed the scratches myself with some polish and a bit of elbow grease. I spoke to the AA who I was with at the time as I was concerned that the other party might put in a large claim for what was just a few scratches and given that their car was only worth around £275, I didn't want that to happen. They assured me that it wouldn't happen but it did. They paid out over £1000 for a few scratches on a car worth £250! Result - I left the AA and found myself a new insurer.
