Aviva Signature home insurance replaces damaged items with new ones, or pays for them to be restored, repaired or replaced. Damage due to wear and tear or breakdowns is not covered. Accidental damage is an optional cover.

Chuffed gave me discount when mentioned online competitors also they give unlimited cover(usually 75k contents) & 60 days if home not occupied (most usually 30) also water cover standard (usually extra charge with competitors?) Reviewed on: 4th July 2017

Reasonable and reliable

alternative accomodation

I had an alternative accommodation cover for £50,000. Paid my parents £14.28 a day to stay with them for 4 weeks. Then paid £1000 for a caravan which I lived in for 6 months. They told me paying a £1000 for a caravan was generous. I then persuaded them to pay for a better caravan for £22000. Now they want me to buy back the caravan from them for £15000 before I have a house to live in. Reviewed on: 21st March 2017

MaxYourMoney - discounts for people with multiple products

We have our life, home and motor insurance with Aviva and we get an additional discount by holding all these insurances with them. I still shop around each year but they often still work out the best price too. By renewing online, they give a further discount so it's a great way to #MaxYourMoney Reviewed on: 20th March 2017

Sneaky, hidden clauses,

Having paid a very expensive premium and specified jewellery when house was broken into with alarm on they declined claim because the jewellery wasn't in a safe They employ OSG who went to great lengths to uncover any thing they could so they could decline Reviewed on: 23rd January 2017

Rip off!

I have paid for 5* cover for more than 20 years and in all this time I have been unable to make a single claim. There is a always a clause/reason on their part every time I have applied for not being eligible to. They send out a booklet out with very basic information / details about the claims process. Additionaly they charge a very expensive administration fee of (£23.75) for no changes to the policy, and for giving them your service & renewing your policy annually. This is mandatory even without any changes to your policy/paper work. A big mistake & very costly to me at a stressful time when I needed help. Reviewed on: 16th January 2017

Good value

We got a quote online for our flat, contents only, which was significantly less than other quotations we had found. It was easy to quote though our walls are not standard construction and I did find it difficult to find anyone in aviva who seemed to understand the statement of fact. Good cover, good price, helpful staff.

I review home insurance every year and have been happy enough with the product and service provided by Aviva that I have stuck with them for a few years now. The paperwork is clear and I've been happy when dealing with them on the phone to discuss renewals. I have no experience of their claims process. Reviewed on: 24th December 2016
