Not the greatest customer service

It took me 45 minutes to find out why I had an extra £200 in my bank account, I was passed to advisor after advisor, it was harrowing to say the least. Reviewed on: 8th February 2016

Smooth service, easy to use.

switched current account to Barclays

I’ve just switched current account to Barclays and the benefits are very good and was so easy to switch! . The cash ISA is also really easy to use, and has a solid interest rate. Customer service has been excellent so far. Reviewed on: 24th January 2026

Very good if you have premier banking .

Foreign currency cheques

I received a cheque in Canadian Dollars (approximate value £800) and went to my local branch of Barclays to pay it into my current account. I was very disappointed to be told that Barclays no longer accepted cheques for any currency other than £ sterling. I therefore had no choice but to open a low interest savings account with another UK bank for the sole purpose of paying in this $ Canadian cheque. This was time consuming and should not have been necessary as Barclays used to be able to deal with foreign currency cheques without problem. Reviewed on: 23rd January 2026

Fraudulent Activity

I had an issue of fraudulent activity on my account. Barclays were very effective in helping me resolve this issue and getting new bank cards issued. A refund was always issued very quickly which meant that I wasn't out of pocket. Reviewed on: 23rd January 2026
