Barclays is not a bank......its an Ealing comedy!

After 45 years as a customer I have finally given up with Barclays and transferred my business to another bank. First they closed my local branch, shortly after they removed the cashpoint that went with it. Then they took away my overdraft facility (not that I have ever used it but it would have been nice to tell me why). Then they closed two other branches that were both 8 miles away, so the nearest branch is now a 30 minute drive from my house. Trying to speak to anyone on the phone was a total waste of time, and after they cancelled my debit card for the 3rd consecutive time in a year because of 'possible fraudulent activity' I'd had enough. When I told them I was switching to another bank I didn't even get a 'sorry to see you go and thank you for your custom' after 45 years loyalty. Barclays is not a bank anymore, it's just another bloated corporate entity with total disregard for the customers whose hard-earned cash it relies on to exist. Its savings interest rates are a complete joke and its single minded focus on closing almost every physical branch it operates in favour of 'online apps' is very short-sighted. The internet is wonderful, until there is no internet.... Anyone considering opening an account with them should seriously think again, and if you are someone who still persists in keeping an account with them in the vain hope that things will get better, I would suggest you start looking elsewhere before they screw you over too. DO NOT BANK WITH BARCLAYS

I've been a Barclays so called Premier customer for 30 years, Have put well over £2m through my account and only once have used my agreed overdraft account. It was immediately cut, just when I needed it, just when for the first and only time I needed a bank. I don't fit the computer profile. It's no surprise they get such awful reviews on site after site. There is no point being with a bank that takes all the profit they can and abandon you if you dare to go over drawn once in 30 years. TERRIBLE BUSINESS BANK

Rated 1 out of 5 stars 4 minutes ago Terrible service can’t get through to a… Terrible service can’t get through to a operator over the phone listening to music for 2 hours not good. Threatened to close my account after I’ve updated my business info. Stopped access to my business barclays app and bank debit card until I’ve spoke over the phone yet I cannot get through. I also recently received a letter to confirm my info had been updated although nothing as changed since I opened my account. Just hassle no business owner needs. What happened to this great institution?

Having banked with Barclays for 42 years , from a mere lad, they decided to close my account giving me one months notice. Once I got past the queue waiting to speak to a human, I asked for a balance and they couldnt give me a balance stating that the account was now closed. So what happened to my money? They then sid it was in a holding account and I should got my my nearest Barclays bank and withdraw my funds.....I live in NZ! The nearest Barclays Bank is 8000 miles away! Then the procedure to access my funds requires a lawyer to verify my identity which Barclays already know. Its just too hard to access MY money., so many hurdles in place. Barclays bank in york city center

I visited four times in this york city branch, but most staff when you enter are not polite at all ,they are not for the customers.... It's very sad and disgraceful, must to change to new staff who have a good manners.. Reviewed on: 9th October 2023

Taken my money for no reason and will not return. Please avoid this disgusting company.

Bank elsewhere!

Barclays makes banking an extremely difficult and frustrating process. I bank with a number of banks and I am never left feeling the level of frustration I do with Barclays. After of years of negative experiences I am finally closing my account. I’m not sure why I stuck with them for as long as I did. Reviewed on: 26th September 2023
