By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

Excellent concept, excellent execution

I had never heard of pay as you drive insurance before, and admittedly I was sceptical. However I was in a situation where I didn't need my car for commuting, but would need it for long distance driving on weekends to visit my partner (long distance relationship!). Because of this, the 150 mile max charge was a huge selling point for me. So on that, I took the plunge and I have not been disappointed. The customer service has been excellent. The online support in particular is seem less and easy to use. The dashboard app is great and allows you to track your miles and see where your car currently is - this was a huge relief as I lived in a city and occasionally was not able to park in sight of my windows, the app allowed me to make sure my car was still where I left it! I could not recommend bymiles enough for someone who is planning on not driving much, or planning on infrequent long distance journeys. Reviewed on: 6th August 2020

I've never been happier with any other insurer

Brilliant customer service and added value. I love being able to track my journeys and pay for them by the mile. The added features of the device have a lot of uses (proof of location of vehicle and journeys), low car battery warning etc). Reviewed on: 6th August 2020

The Sensible Way

Over the last few months (the months we want to forget!), I was paying through the roof to another provider for car insurance on a vehicle that just didn't move. They offered no help at all, despite being furloughed. I made my decision to swap to By Miles long before my renewal date and, although it's still early days, I'm already reaping the rewards for swapping. Quick and easy set up, great app, excellent customer service when I did something wrong on the app (my fault entirely!). I've already recommended By Miles to friends and will continue to do so. Obviously, I can't offer any reviews in the case of claiming because I've not had to yet, but if that is as smooth as all the other contact I've had with them so far, I'm a happy guy Reviewed on: 6th August 2020

Fantastic for a low mileage driver!

This company has saved me a fortune in the last year. I will definitely be renewing my policy for next year . The box in car is easy to fit. I love the app. I can see how much each journey costs and can track how much my bill will be for the month. I must say that most importantly their customer service is the best I have ever dealt with. Good insurance but creeping changes

good concept. However initially were told it tracks distance only, not speed travelled. More recently noticed on app it also clocks your avg and max speed per journey. Not had to claim, but this can potentially influence likelihood of claim success if yr max speed was 75mph on motorway over taking and you get in accident Reviewed on: 5th August 2020
