Review of the By Miles, Car Insurance:

I'm enjoying knowing how much I'm going to save this year.

Despite my terrible phone line and easily confised nature, By Miles customer service has been the best I've experienced in motor or home insurance so far. The live chat was very useful in helping me fit the tracker too. The only reason I would hesitate to recomend to anyone is that it is a mileage based cost and I know most people underestimate how far they drive in a year. This is no reflection on By Miles themselves. Reviewed on: 1st August 2019

After giving me a quote, they suddenly told me they cannot insure me

I received my new miles quote from RMiles they increased the pence per mile by 1000 percent and increased my premium by 60%..so I had to look elsewhere..the customer service lady told me.. Maybe it's because of your Mercedes car...!!!! Really AVOID...its a very expensive way to get insurance Reviewed on: 12th December 2023

Average insurance company

1 year with them I had no issues but they refused a 2nd year and didn’t explain why either and I had no accidents and paid in full each month. Was hoping to compare them over a few years but no chance. Reviewed on: 14th November 2023

Cheapest car insurance ever since they launched in 2018!

I've been with By Miles from the very start, having saved over £500 in the first year compared to the next cheapest provider. In the consequent years the savings have been less, but still at least £200. Great app that allows you to track your journey in case you want to find that nice little shop or castle that you drove past. Nice chat feature (via web or app) that allows you to chat with the support team, who are quick to respond and the reply will wait for you even if you close the window (and you'll be notified by e-mail when they reply). Easy use for low milage

Very affordable if you have a car for occasional use but not regular, saving quite a lot. Easy to access the dashboard online to manage the policy. Only requires the car to have a running battery and the gps system continues to run. Very happy with the per-mile price Reviewed on: 5th September 2023

Renewal went up by 600%

1
Was with them for 2 years they was great. On my renewal price for the following year it had risen from £470 previous year to £1,209 taking my monthly payments from £30-40 to £100-115 3.6p per mile to 19.9p per mile. For 3 days i tried to contact bymiles but was left on hold with no answer. I made about 20 calls. Do not insure with this company they will get you then hit you with outrageous renewal prices and then leave you on hold to the song Baker street on repeat for days. I have cancelled my renewal and found much cheaper elsewhere Reviewed on: 31st August 2023

what a discovery!

As a low mileage user, using street parking, and living in an inner city area, I have struggled to find car insurance I can afford. The answer has been By Miles. After paying a reasonable admin fee once a year, I am charged by the mile for my car insurance. A tracker device is plugged into my car to record mileage. So far this year, all my monthly mileage bills have been zero, because I was credited lots of free miles for renewing my policy with By Miles. (Without that credit, my monthly bill would be a few pounds.) I haven’t had to claim yet, but service (e.g. when i needed a copy of my documents) has been excellent. I recommend By Miles to all low mileage users. Reviewed on: 24th August 2023

Pay as you go!

I have been a customer of "By Mile" car insurance for two years now, and I'm extremely satisfied with their service. One of the major advantages of this insurance is its affordability. The quotes I received from other companies were twice as expensive as what "By Mile" offered me. Their mileage-based payment system is incredibly useful, allowing me to pay based on the actual distance I drive. Even better, if I haven't used up all of my allocated mileage, they provide refunds. I must admit that in my previous year, I was charged additionally for driving more than I had initially declared. However, despite that, "By Mile" insurance still turned out to be cheaper than any other company I considered. Overall, "By Mile" has proven to be a cost-effective and convenient choice for my car insurance needs, and I highly recommend them. Reviewed on: 24th August 2023

Started off well

The first year the rate per mile was very reasonable at 2.7p. At renewal the rate went to 11.7. A completely exorbitant escalation. I refused to accept the new deal and took my business elsewhere Reviewed on: 23rd August 2023
