By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

When I heard about bymiles I didn’t understand the concept clearly but when I did I straight away applied for car insurance. The concept to charge by the mile is fantastic Don’t you think ? I by pay for insuring your car when your not driving it... the money u save is huge ! I’m never paying for car insurance again when I’m away on holiday not using my car !!!! Me and my mum use this - we were both classed as ‘new’ drivers as we had only driven abroad/ been on somebody else’s insurance. Saved ourselves over £300 in first year compared to cheapest other insurance companies and have just renewed for second year as both the fixed fee and by miles price have come down already. An excellent idea for lower mileage drivers

I have only recently take out this policy but so far, so good. Unlike other companies I have been able to ask questions on Chat with a very quick and helpful response. The whole concept of paying by mileage seems an excellent idea for lower mileage drivers and By Miles deserves to win awards. Reviewed on: 9th September 2020

Found By Miles through a money saving app who suggested that if I only do a small amount of miles that they would be a good alternative. As I have a van for work I only use my car to drive on weekends when otherwise it’s in my garage. The set up process was really easy, easier than adding details to comparison websites, and they gave me a really good quote for the year. Easily £150 cheaper than comparison sites. They have a simple video which explains how it works and when you’ll be charged each month so that you know what’s going to happen if you decide to go with them, as it puts your mind at ease straight away. It also shows that they won’t over charge you if you do want to go on a longer drive, especially convenient with staycations due to COVID! The capping of costs over a day is great and shows that they just want to insure you for the miles you do and not penalise you for needing to make a longer trip once in a while. They then sent me a package which has a tracker in it to put into my car to be able to see when I drive. Simple to install and the app even tells you where to put it! The notifications are great as it’s interesting to see how much each journey costs you. Making it easy to save if I need to one month to the next. Overall it’s a good service and as long as it stays at a cheap rate for next years renewal, I cannot see why I won’t stay with them another year Reviewed on: 9th September 2020

It’s rare that a new idea jumps up and grabs your attention, especially in the world of insurance. It means my car that I drive infrequently has the right cover whether on the drive or out an about without being over charged. Great idea! Reviewed on: 9th September 2020
