By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

Pay as you go car insurance

I drive around my town doing short trips only. I seldom use the Motorway or travel far so this is the best kind of insurance for me, it costs very little and is judged fairly on customer usage. The app is easy to use and customer service is good. I’ve saved 3 times as much with my previous insurer. Highly recommend. Reviewed on: 9th September 2020

Best car insurance I've ever had

From start to finish, this is by far the easiest and best insurance I've ever had. I do relatively few miles each year and always seem to pay quite a lot for not using my car. With these, after the initial payment (which compares well to other insurers) I only pay for the milage I do which is fab. If I do have to do a long journey then my milage is capped so I always know how much it will cost. The phone app is great as well with useful bits like diagnostics and journey tracker.
