Ok account

No problem account with a bank that does not chase you for every last penny of profit. Reviewed on: 3rd June 2023

Interest rates are diabolical compared to competition. Customer Service is good if you have the time to wait to get through. Gone have 24/7 helpline now just over office hours. Local banks gone. Local bank left in difficult place to access/park. Not tge bank it was since being partially privatised. Now need to pay shareholders not a Cooperative society organisation anymore. Benefits perks are deplorable compared to previous and the competition sadly. This bank is now back to the days of being a piggy bank. Reviewed on: 16th March 2023

Please please please do not use

Lost debit card, failed repeatedly to up their game, cocked up replacement and from 17/1 to now, 18/2 every interaction with them has been tortuous. They seriously compromised by funds during that period,lied, blurted out the party line, take days to respond. They're a catalogue of errors, negligence and complacent. They have no fear of the Financial Ombudsman or court for damages for stress born of incompetence. Even today, illegible new PIN and unable to use my debit card to send money to my wife, pay for phone credits, pay bills. I rarely advise. But I have to. Do not use. Put them to the Financial Ombudsman and Sue for damages in court. It's the only way this bank is going to learn a lesson because if it's one thing I've heard from them in the past few weeks it's that nobody complains. Bad businesses cover up, good ones don't fear transparency. This one lives by divide and rule. Which is way these review sites are invaluable so we all know balanced truth. One of the first ethical banks

I remember years ago Co-Op's bank advertising how they don't invest in dicatorships and un-ethical practices so when I had extra funds it was a no-brainer to open an account. In fact one of the 24 charities I fund - Greenpeace - not only have accounts with Co-Op but when one of their video's notified me of another banks practices I moved money immediately into a Co-Op account. I'll always have Co-Op as one of my chosen banks and am proud of that Reviewed on: 15th March 2022

Banked with them for 35 years

I have banked with the coop for over 35 years now and never had an issue with them only wish they hadn’t closed all local banks to me, however as I am able to bank through the post office it’s not been an issue Reviewed on: 9th February 2020

Welcomes all.

Too much debt for other banks etc. DRO in place but still they allowed me to open a deposit account. Reviewed on: 8th February 2020

Life saver.

Public Complaint

The Coop Bank has recently had a new online banking system. A perfect example of how to make a 'not very good system' into something dreadful. Apart from the fact that there are lots of access issues, wasting time on phone calls, queuing to be answered etc. Now, you cannot transfer money from a deposit account into any other account. That is how it has been designed. You want to transfer funds from your deposit account - do it on the phone. Unbelievable. Correction, it's the Coop Bank, it used to work but now it's been designed out. I'm moving. Reviewed on: 14th December 2016
