A Safe Pair of Hands

I've been with Direct Line for some years now and always felt we are in a safe pair of hands. We are not always looking... I've been with Direct Line for some years now and always felt we are in a safe pair of hands. We are not always looking at the cheapest price or gimic deals to attract us to move Insurers, we are normally in for the long haul, unless anything changes dramatically. We have always found Direct Line to be straight forward to deal with and the renewal process is taken care of easily. Therefore with our experience over the years with DL, we would recommend. Sad demise of once good company.

terrible automated phone system. It kept asking same questions again and again. When I finally got the phone ringing for an agent--it cut off, Absolute... terrible automated phone system. It kept asking same questions again and again. When I finally got the phone ringing for an agent--it cut off, Absolute torture. Also big increaser in charge although most companies had reductions. Call centre now moved from UK to S Africa. This was a giood company--now terrible--very sad. Read more Read less

Had a water leak under concrete floor in kitchen . They said get plumber in to find leak take pictures before repairing leak. When we... Had a water leak under concrete floor in kitchen . They said get plumber in to find leak take pictures before repairing leak. When we sent pics in they asked for quote to repair flooring kitchen tiles kick boards and any cupboards that were damaged. Had to deal with another contractor for dehumidifier to help dry out concrete floor after 4 weeks and arguing with insurance assessors we finally got a response where we came to a reasonable price for replacing tiles and kick boards plus removal and refit of island units . In total took nearly 3 months to complete. Read more Read less

    Avoid Direct Line at all costs.

    Avoid Direct Line at all costs. Had a car crash and agreed to use their 'approved repairer', did an absolutely horrific job, they had the... Avoid Direct Line at all costs. Had a car crash and agreed to use their 'approved repairer', did an absolutely horrific job, they had the car back a second time to rectify their works and actually did nothing other than send it back to me and swear down the phone. Raised a complaint with Direct Line and had an 'external engineer' come to look at the car to agree on what works were acceptable. Turns out both the 'approved repairer' and 'external engineer' are both part of the Direct Line Group. An absolute con and I am now left with a vehicle, that I'd only purchased 3 weeks prior to the crash, that is not to an acceptable standard. Read more Read less
