I have Land Lords Insurance with Direct Line and my tenants had a problem whilst I was away on holiday and so they contacted the local Register Safe Gas plumber that services and repairs the property. The heating system had failed and the plumber had to locate the problem - the plumbers had to check all the heating pipes for leaks and this meant lifting floors and replacing tanks and equipment a process of elimination - eventually the plumber found that a coil inside a tank had failed - anyway I reported the problem to Direct Line in arriving back and they said to contact them again once the work has been completed. A few weeks later the invoice arrived and I rang Direct Line - their response was that they will pay for any secondary water damage but locating and fixing the leak wasn’t covered. The fact that my tenant managed to quickly locate the local plumber prevented the damage. I asked them about the advert on tv showing Direct Line coming to the rescue of a Landlord was intact he had the upgraded 5 star cover and not the standard cover they had provided to me. So be warned - Read you renewal carefully Direct Line only under certain conditions cover plumbing emergency breakdowns. We won’t be renewing the insurance cover in this or any other properties we have.

Very fast and responsive

My cat Bee was unfortunately knocked down and we thought we were going to lose her. If it had not have been for direct line stepping in and taking over all the financial parts then it would have been a lot more stressful. We called them to explain what had happened and they responded straight away and organised for her to be treated at her vets. I didnt have to worry about anything. Bee fully recovered and igruly believe it's because direct line were so fast in responding and getting her the treatment she needed. I would definitely recommend

Amazing service

My car was smashed into whilst parked outside my house and the driver ran off after writing off two other cars in the process, the police wouldn't take my car and had the fire brigade move the car to the side of the road, I called Direct Line at 1am...

My car was smashed into whilst parked outside my house and the driver ran off after writing off two other cars in the process, the police wouldn't take my car and had the fire brigade move the car to the side of the road, I called Direct Line at 1am and they had someone come out to collect the car for me that night, they managed to repair it, and a few weeks later when another issue came up on the car I called, they had someone come out with a courtesy car for me while they took mine in to be looked at and fixed, when I took it to my garage they woudln't even look at it for 2 weeks and offered no courtesy car. Direct line really did offer a fabulous service and I'd love to use them again, if my premium doesn't go up too much EEEKK!

Super Easy Great Price

I’ve been with Direct Line before and left due to them hiking the price constantly. Checked back a year later and the price was very reasonable and better than any insurer through any comparison website. Also offer discount due to having house insurance

My experience with the claim handlers was great. Quick, friendly, efficient and informative. As a result of this experience I stayed with Direct Line the following year with an expected price rise. Unfortunately when I went to renew for the 3rd year (after over a year no claims) the price really leapt up so I had to move to another provider.

Refused to pay out on storm damage to new build house initially claiming that there had been no storm, then when I proved their had been stated that the damage was a 'maintenance issue' with the roof. In any other type of business this would be fraud, but apparently it's ok because it's an insurance company.
