Ecology Building Society puts its ethical principles into practice

I've saved with the Ecology Building Society for about 20 years now. I am delighted to be a member of an organisation that 'walks the talk' when it comes to environmental sustainability and treating people fairly. I see the climate emergency and the ecological crisis that we face as the ethical issue of our times - and one that the Ecology Building Society is taking seriously. It is great to see the Ethical Building Society putting money to very good use - enabling people to live in sustainable properties and contributing positively to our country's future. I'm impressed that the Ecology doesn't 'rest on its laurels' but is always actively looking for new ways to increase its impact. Reviewed on: 12th March 2021

Ethical saving at reasonable interest rate

Interest rates are very low everywhere so we made the choice to choose a saving that would bring something more than just interests. Glad we made this choice! Reviewed on: 12th March 2021

A "green" building society

A friend recommended EBS to us as a savings bank. We are very happy knowing that our small savings are helping other people build sustainable homes. I love the fact that literature from EBS shows real people (ie looking down to earth like me!). Reviewed on: 12th March 2021

Very satisfied long-standing customer

I've been a saver at the this building society for over 30 years - from back when virtually no one had heard of 'ethical banking' - and they have always provided great service as well as very high ethical standards. I have also had mortgages with them. Reviewed on: 12th March 2021

Great building society for planet and people

The Ethical Building Society are fantastic because they are protecting our planet from climate change and ecological emergency by only supporting & investing money into projects and buildings that are sustainable. They do this yet pay a good rate of interest, an all round winner! Banking is hugely implicated in climate change because of their financial links with damaging fossil fuels. The Ethical building Society is free of this, as far as I’m aware. Reviewed on: 12th March 2021

Support for energy-efficiency - whatever your circumstances

I've been with the Ecology for more than 20 years, because I just support what they do. For many years I had hoped to build my own eco-house, but even when that plan waned, I still wanted to support the idea of my savings helping others with their eco-projects. The EBS has kept me updated over the years but not excessively so, it tells uplifting stories about people it has helped, and it's a way of savers helping even if they can't do their own building. I don't recommend many businesses to my friends because you can so easily be let down, but to anyone wanting to support eco-building and renovation, I'd happily recommend the Ecology.
