Very angry Esure home insurance customer

After being a customer for a number of years, I had to make a claim on my buildings insurance as water had obviously been getting in underneath my conservatory floor resulting in the laminate floor lifting significantly in a number of places. I noticed a build up of moss and a mushroom after moving some furniture on the inside outer wall of the conservatory. On lifting the laminate boards to have a look I found the laminate underlay to be soaking along the majority of the outer wall, there is no evidence of water pipes near or around the base of the conservatory and the guttering is relatively new. The evening after making the claim I received an email saying that the claim had been rejected as my policy does not cove the damage detailed. I phoned an adavisor to ask why because after checking my policy it seemed that water damage due to weather was indeed covered. The advisor told me that there may be water pipes underneath my conservatory and as they did not know where the water was coming from that I would have to arrange for a plumber investigation to determine exactly where the water was coming from. Surely it is the responsibility of the insurance company to arrange for this invest to be carried out to find out exactly what I am claiming for as how the hell am I, as a customer supposed to know where the leak is coming from without demolishing my conservatory at a significant cost to me that as the icing on the cake may provide evidence of damage that may not be covered anyway. Absolutely terrible customer service after waiting nearly an hour for a human to answer to be told BY AN INSURANCE company THAT I AM supposed to carry out the leak invest. Not happy, I will definitly not be renewing my home insurance with this joke of a company. Reviewed on: 11th November 2025

Esure Home Emergency

Had to call home emergency when toilet stopped flushing - Esure were very professional and quick and plumber was out and problem sorted within a few hours - and at Easter weekend - superb service Reviewed on: 18th April 2025

Bare minimum effort and sometimes even less

Created an account just to warn others of this company. Bought our year of home insurance outright for a reasonable price. As most people do, never thought I would have had to claim so didn't do my research. Unfortunately the high winds and snow caused damage to our roof and we had a company out straight away to review and repair the damage. It was leaking through into our bedroom and growing by the day. Paid outright then to get it done and then filed our claims with loads of supporting evidence we had asked the contractors to take. A reviewer came round 2 weeks later and poked around for 15 minutes at the completed work and gave the gem "I can't see any damage", then proceeded to tell us we overpaid and left. Waiting for a response and about 6 weeks later our claim is just removed from the website without any communication. We're now in the 8 week complaint review period after we contacted them about them neglecting their legal obligation to inform us on changes and show us evidence of any decision they have made. They have a nice website and the app works pretty well. After that they have come across to me as a company doing the bare minimum and hoping you don't know how to fight back or haven't got the time. This is not to mention that their renew quote was X4 the first years which was a joke is itself. Please avoid Esure for home insurance. I did have them for my motorbike insurance for a couple years and they were great but I never made a claim so guess didn't get to see this side.. Reviewed on: 15th March 2025

Emergency visits - 7 days and don’t answer the phone

Made a claim for boiler breakdown and offered me an appointment 7 days later - not sure how they view this as emergency cover if it takes so long. Takes ages for them to answer phone and then they hang up after 20 mins. Website is poor and doesn’t work either. Reviewed on: 30th December 2024
