Waste of money for specified items

Knocked my laptop of the table and it died. Had it insured specifically cos its expensive. They took it away and after a few days i was told it wasn't covered as it was "wear and tear, deterioration over time mechanical failure." This happened at the same time the laptop hit the ground.....which was convenient for them. If it had physical damage then maybe they could say it was a result from that but unfortunately for me it landed on its bottom and whatever broke inside was undetectable by them so basically tough luck. Though I should feel free to pay someone else to look at it and then esure will have the same people who looked at it the first time check it again. If i had the money to pay other people to look at it then I would have rather than rely on them. So glad I paid for the extra cover. No wonder the forums online say "if its broken, make sure if you send it to them with enough damaged so they cant weasel out of it." Honesty gets you nothing. Reviewed on: 29th July 2017

Great service at an emotional time

I was devastated earlier this year to have lost my diamond solitaire engagement ring. I wore this ring every day for 20 years and was beside myself that I lost it. It was insured this year with Esure and I cannot fault how compassionately they dealt with my claim. They were helpful and patient every step of the way from notifying them of the loss, to the time they gave me to try and search high and low for the ring. When ultimately I had looked everywhere I could and had to acknowledge it had gone the staff at Esure made the process of claiming for and replacing the ring as painless as it could be. Friendly but...

Received our renewal notice the other day and it had gone up loads. I rang to see if there was any scope for negotiation but although the chap was very friendly, wouldn't be budged on the price. I did renew as I like the cover but thought they might make a little more effort to retain my custom. Reviewed on: 15th July 2017

Good service

We have used Esure several times in the past for home and car insurance. They often come up as one of the cheapest on comparison websites and we have found their customer service to be very friendly and helpful. The documents are always clearly worded and they keep us informed as to when our policy is due for renewal. Reviewed on: 4th July 2017

Just don't try to claim even with emergency cover

I went with them for home and contents due to the price, even have emergency home cover. It might be the same with all insurance companies but it seems I have to get the problem fully assessed before they will send an assessor. So have to pay for a plumber/builder to come in to assess the issue. Not happy. Reviewed on: 27th January 2017

Good product

We have recently renewed our home insurance with Esure and the process was simple. We used a comparison website and Esure was the best deal. The sign up process was easy and we received our documentation promptly by email, followed by the paper documents through the post. The rate was good and the cover is adequate. Terrible claims service....

We sadly had a flood claim in April this year and Esure sent around one of their own Surveyors to review the damage. He offered £2,800 in settlement which we were not happy about.....six months later the claim has still not been settled but their offer is now £10,500! This is a shocking company whose claims service is woeful! I am going on TV at the end of the month to talk about our experience...I am looking forward to getting a chance to talk about this! Also, I found Esure by using the comparison website - go compare - funny how both companies are owned by the same parent company!!!! Not sure this is treating customers fairly!!! I have worked in the insurance industry for 29 years.....never felt that I would ever complain about the service of a claims department but this is the first household claim I have ever made....please choose your insurer carefully!
