Just don't try to claim even with emergency cover

I went with them for home and contents due to the price, even have emergency home cover. It might be the same with all insurance companies but it seems I have to get the problem fully assessed before they will send an assessor. So have to pay for a plumber/builder to come in to assess the issue. Not happy. Reviewed on: 27th January 2017

Good product

We have recently renewed our home insurance with Esure and the process was simple. We used a comparison website and Esure was the best deal. The sign up process was easy and we received our documentation promptly by email, followed by the paper documents through the post. The rate was good and the cover is adequate. Terrible claims service....

We sadly had a flood claim in April this year and Esure sent around one of their own Surveyors to review the damage. He offered £2,800 in settlement which we were not happy about.....six months later the claim has still not been settled but their offer is now £10,500! This is a shocking company whose claims service is woeful! I am going on TV at the end of the month to talk about our experience...I am looking forward to getting a chance to talk about this! Also, I found Esure by using the comparison website - go compare - funny how both companies are owned by the same parent company!!!! Not sure this is treating customers fairly!!! I have worked in the insurance industry for 29 years.....never felt that I would ever complain about the service of a claims department but this is the first household claim I have ever made....please choose your insurer carefully! unhelpful and a policy not fit for purpose

For many years I had building & contents insurance for my home.with Esure. I moved house and rented out my home. Ensure did not offer Landlord's Insurance therefore I had to cancel. I rang the number given in the policy and all their literature; no one was available to pick up despite me varying the day and the time I rang. I was put on hold on an average of 35 minutes and when either the blood from my arm drained or the battery on my phone drained, I gave up. It wasn't a free phone number. There was also no address to put my request into writing. I rang the renewal line and got through almost immediately! I explained my situation to a gentleman who said he will put a note on my file, took my number and promised to get someone to call me back so that I could cancel. I received no call back. I was left with no alternative but to cancel my direct debit as I had already notified Esure. 9 months later I received a phone call from a debt collecting company who stated I owed 3 months of premiums. I explained my case and the reprep from the debt company agreed that I shouldn't have to pay the so called 'debt'. She said she would write to Esure explaining my case. A month later the debt company contacted me again and said Esure did not accept my explanation therefore I had to pay the outstanding balance. I did as I did not want it to affect my credit rating. I am now insured with Hastings. This time I checked the small print and also clarified it with someone from Hastings call centre. I explained my history with Esure. He pointed out it was actually illegal what Esure had done in making me pay for a policy that was not fit for purpose and urged me to contact FCA . Unfortunately I don't have the time to do this. 5 Star package with all the things in you would expect

Never used in an emergency but good reviews and easy to set up, British call centres. Unfortunately to obtain the best value for money it's advisable with most of these such companies to change every year due to no "Loyalty " discounts. Reviewed on: 24th December 2015

I used Esure for one year, didn't have to claim so can't comment on service, renewal was significantly higher and cheaper / better quotes were found elsewhere having been cheapest the year before. No issues with how the transaction went, but disappointed by the lack of competitiveness at renewal time. Reviewed on: 9th November 2015

Excellent all round - I'm sure

Have used Esure for a couple of years for my home insurance before switching and always found them to be excellent. The price was very competitive and their service was always friendly. A shame they couldn't beat another quote but I would definitely recommend them! Reviewed on: 6th November 2015

The site could be easier to navigate and be quicker to complete the initial data that is required for a quote to be produced, taking it for granted I am a new customer.

using ESURE website to obtain a quote for home insurance as a new customer. Very time consuming to answer questions to gain the initial quote information, and the inability to directly share the data with other insurance providers is something that would make ESURE really stand out crom it's market competitor.
