Always a person on the end of the phone when you need them and you can do just about anything in the app apart from pay money in, cheques you can. Reviewed on: 16th March 2023

Not the new kid on the block anymore

I've been a customer with First Direct since it started in the 90's. I chose it because it was innovative and forward thinking and very different back then. Today in 2023, things are different, there are new banks and offerings with 21st century technology that are more innovative than First Direct. I have toyed now for a couple of years to switch my main account, as I manage everything online, rarely speak to the bank and to be honest don't need to be told they have the best customer service. The reason for staying, is stability, however I don't use my main account for daily spend, I transfer money to other offerings that provide me cash back, incentives and don't charge me for foreign transactions. What I would rather First Direct focus on is their marketing campaigns to me, because I don't think I am their demographic they want to attract any more. They know I am a man in my 50's, they know my spending habits etc. so why send me things that are totally irrelevant! I would prefer they use their thirty years of data they have on me and demonstrate they do have products and solutions that I might be interested in. So First Direct, my question to you is, do you want to keep your loyal customers that have banked with you for nearly thirty years because it doesn't look that way. Reviewed on: 16th March 2023

Friendly telephone service

I do most of my banking via the FD App but on the odd occasion I need personal help I find the telephone service excellent. Staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. Reviewed on: 16th March 2023

Absolutely useless

Lied to, messed about. Given an account via their online process but can't open joint account online. Then lied to about changing it to a joint account and doing the application over the phone with the most condescending and patronising person I have ever dealt with we were told we can't have a joint account because you are a business, which we are not. They clearly have useless processes, very unprofessional staff and are just unbelievably bad Reviewed on: 13th March 2023
