Review of the GoSkippy, Car insurance:

BEWARE - PLEASE READ

1
PLEASE READ — I had a collision in June this year (2018) and it was not my fault. I contacted GoSkippy/Eldon Insurance/Southern Rock and was finally told I would have to claim on my insurance while “investigations” were ongoing. I was not asked for my account of what happened, I was not asked to provide any evidence of the collision and how it happened - I was instead asked to pay the excess and claim on my insurance. I refused and complained about bot being asked to provide any evidence of my side of the story. Rather, “pay the excess and claim on your insurance”, was what I was told. My complaint was not upheld by GoSkippy, instead a sudden flurry of requests for information/evidence that should have been made in the first place now followed. A few weeks after filling in the forms and sending these back I got a call from a personal injury specialist from GoSkippy accusing me of being at fault. That’s right. My very own insurance company! GoSkippy!!! I calmly explained how the accident happened to her because it was evident she had not even read my case file. She said I should not have been waiting in the yellow box to turn right when the accident occurred. I explained to her I was not in a yellow box, and if I were, I would’ve been right to do so!! She stammered and stuttered when she realised she’d been caught out. She had one mission. To get me to accept whole or split liability over the phone. This lady proposed a 50/50 split liability resolution. I refused. I told her to put all her correspondence in writing. ALWAYS ASK FOR DETAILS IN WRITING AFTER SPEAKING TO ANY ORGANISATION ON THE PHONE. IF POSSIBLE DECLINE TO SPEAK, AND ASK FOR THE INFORMATION VIA EMAIL. The longer the paper trail the better. I got a letter back from this lady offering me 70/30 split in my favour. I still refused. She even threatened me with being saddled with court costs, but I don’t scare easily, especially when I know my rights, and know I am in the right. In her final response she stated I would have to wait for the police report before any progress could be made on who was to blame. Eventually my insurance with GoSkippy on my car lapsed; hence I had to get cover with another insurer. Would you believe that three days after taking cover with my new insurers I got a letter from them telling me that my previous insurers had changed the status of the accident on the CUE (Claims Underwriting Exchange) from ‘no fault’ to ‘my fault’. And they added a massive increase to the cost of my premiums. Of course, I complained. About a month after complaining the police sent over their report validating I was not at fault! I forwarded it to my current insurers . But this company is not like GoSkippy, they are not in it just for the money. They do exist to provide a service and they provided me with an email address to send all the evidence that proved I was not at fault for the accident. I sent them my no claims letter, police correspondence and the email from the dubious personal injury lady at GoSkippy. They immediately amended my policy and awarded me compensation. I have still not heard back from GoSkippy till date. I escalated the case to the Ombudsman but the last I heard is that they keep sending the Ombudsman information in the wrong format. It’s been 5 months (now October 2018) since the accident. I have since purchased a new car but the other sits in my driveway, unfit for driving due to the collision and a bleak reminder of the deliberate failure of GoSkippy to honour their side of a policy agreement I signed with them and paid for diligently over the course of a year. Avoid them. “Good at quotes”, Good at cheap prices” but If you pay for insurance and you don’t get insurance cover in the event of an accident that is not your fault- then -what are you paying for? Britain’s streets are becoming increasingly congested with crazy drivers, with bikers and cyclists eating up every last stretch of road. Every minute your chance of a no fault accident multiplies. AVOID GOSKIPPY. Watch this space for updates. Reviewed on: 14th October 2018

Fraudulent behaviour

1
I purchased a motorbike insurance with Goskippy providing all relevant data for a price of over £500. A week after receiving insurance documentation, I received a request to provide pictures of my driving license. Goskippy subsequently claimed I had to pay a surcharge of over £100 (i.e. over 20% of total insurance cost) as my driving license was issued in 2020 (and not 2010 as I indicated). Their understanding was however wrong as 2020 was issuance of my latest license (since the previous one expired) but I first received an insurance in 2010. I provided my explanations to the company and never heard back until a few weeks ago when Goskippy notified me of cancellation of my insurance and reimbursement of £320, therefore charging me over £180 for effectively 3 weeks of insurance. I have written numerous emails to Goskippy trying to rectify the situation and reinstate the insurance without them acknowleding my point. I have also called with no response. They should be fined for fraudulent behaviour and confiscated their license Reviewed on: 6th August 2024

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

1
Terrible company and I regret ever taking a policy with them. I sent the documents requested and after a week for an email saying they needed the driving license of the insured parties. So I sent them a photo of each. Days later I get an email saying they can't accept a photo and that I need to provide the licence numbers which I did. Days later I got another saying they needed licence check codes. I was starting to get irritated by now. So I sent them in as requested only to get another email back a couple of days later saying that they needed the driving licence numbers to be able to use the check codes. All of this information should have been provided in one email and it would have saved a lot of time and frustration. I sent a screenshot of my no claims as they requested proof. However they emailed to say they don't accept screenshots and I had until 5PM that day to provide a PDF or provide them with my old insurers details and old policy number so they could verify it themselves which I did. I was them told they weren't able to contact my previous insurer and I must get PDF. I called my old insurers again to be told GoSkippy has never een tried to contact them to verify my no claims. They couldn't send me a PDF as they don't send emails and I had to wait for it to be loaded onto my online portal. However they closed at 2PM so when it wasn't loaded in time I had to call GoSkippy yet again to explain. They said they'd extend the cancellation until Tuesday and would call me and then put me on a joint call with my old insurers to verbally confirm my no claims. They couldn't get through to me as my number was being posted to a new SIM card. However they emailed to say that they had contacted my old insurers and they had confirmed my no claims and they now had all the information they needed. Except very late this afternoon I get a text saying mist call then urgently as there was an outstanding query on my account. After being on hold I was told they just wanted to confirm my number! This company is beyond a joke. Their customer service is rubbish and I have been so close to cancelling my policy and going with a more well known company. They also have a foreign call centre and the calls are deafening as you can hear the other advisors talking loudly close by - including being able to hear other people's personal details! So they may be cheap but you pay for it with terrible service from some overcrowded sweat shop in India. You have been warned! Reviewed on: 5th August 2024

Absolutely disgraceful company

1
Absolutely disgraceful company - I called to cancel a policy because the car failed its MOT and wasn't worth continuing with. I was over halfway through a 12 month policy costing £400 and they are now charging me over £115 to cancel. I understand that there are some costs that need to be covered when cancelling and am prepared to be reasonable, but when I challenged 2 of their Customer Service people on the phone, one of whom claimed to be a manager (although I doubt this), how they could possibly justify £115 in these circumstances all they did was hide behind their "policy", despite me appealing for some common sense and discretion. Both were also extremely patronising and downright rude. Don't use these, it may seem cheap at face value but they hit you with the hidden costs later. Reviewed on: 26th July 2024

Worst company ever

1
Worst company ever – Don’t use I had a terrible experience with this company. They charged an outrageously high broker fee, which nobody informed me about when I initially signed up. I recently sold my car and had to cancel my policy, only to be slapped with a £400 cancellation fee. This is absolutely ridiculous. Their cheap quotes are just a bait-and-switch tactic, hiding these massive fees until you need to cancel. Stay away and don’t be fooled by their attractive initial prices. Hidden fees galore – you have been warned! Reviewed on: 24th July 2024

GoSkippy are scammers

1
Last year’spremium, my first year with GoSkippy, was £399 51 including an arrangement fee of £82.52. This year the renewal was £1018.93 with a fee of -£43.68 - yes a negative arrangement fee!, This represents around 150% increase year on year despite there being no claims on the original policy and reliable industry sources suggesting prices during 2023 increased by less than 50% and have have stabilised or even reduced in the first part of this year. When I queried this increase with GoSkippy their first line support told me they do not make any effort to check on prices, simply pass them on to customers. Interesting since the Company claims to be brokers and charge a fee albeit a negative fee in the second year - which may be fair since they clearly provide no added value. Further, a comparison site suggested I purchase a policy from GoSkippy Essentials for a premium of £543.12. To summarise,GoSkippy appear to pay no attention to the Financial Conduct Authority’s regulations published in 2022 which stipulate that it is illegal to charge a disproportionately higher rate to an existing customer compared to that given to a new client (known as loyalty penalties). I believe I could be forgiven for concluding that GoSkippy have very strange business ethics when they seem to rely on misleading existing clients for profit - in an old maxim - if it smells of fish it is generally fishy. Shocking

1
I've had bad experiences with insurance companies but Go Skippy are by far the worst!. Their customer service is shocking and as they were unable to insure a dacia sandero ( even though they insured my duster) I was forced to cancel my insurance, they tried, and failed, to charge me a huge cancellation fee, I then got a threatening letter from Premium Credit saying I was due them money, I wasn't, GO Skippy had not told them I'd cancelled. Yes they are cheap but God help you if you need anything from them! Reviewed on: 11th July 2024

Hi Actually 23rd May, my windscreen chipped while I'm driving in the motorway I raised the claim on 24th I uploaded the relevant document on the GoSkippy My account site and I contacted the national windscreen service and book the appointment to replace my windscreen They gave the date on 3rd June to replace ..But (31st May) I got a message from NATIONAL WINDSCREEN SERVICE state that they didn't get validation from the insurance company so they can't fix it on Monday It really makes me at peace off. Then I made a call to GoSkippy and they transferred the line to Somerset Bridge insurance when I talked with them they said the windscreen insurance which I took does not belong to Somerset insurance. it's a deal with general legal production ltd. When I contacted them they said they don't have any relationship with GoSkippy. I nearly spent 4 hrs on the phone ... Finally no use. I'm really disappointed because of this issue I'm not able to do any of my routine work. Not even drop my kids to the school even I spend for taxi all my routine travels Again When I contact the national windscreen service they clearly said that they weren't able to do anything until they get validation from the insurance company . And they informed me that they sent more mail to GoSkippy but they didn't get any response so they held my booking . Till 24th I made more than 50 calls and I sent 5 mails ...but till now no one ready to sort out my problem..I NEVER EVER SEEN THIS KIND OF WORST CAR INSURANCE COMPANY IN MY LIFE TIME Reviewed on: 3rd June 2024
