Solid product for first time mortgage, couldn't match remortgage rate

Halifax gave me my first mortgage on my property at a reasonable rate. We went through a broker which smoothed the process, but as I was (lucky enough to be) gifted some funds from my parents we had an extra layer of scrutiny to prove where the money was coming from and to confirm that it wouldn't need to be paid back. Fantastic customer service!

As first time buyers, we were so nervous about getting ripped off on our first mortgage. We'd explored other options but eventually decided to go with Halifax, as we both held current and savings accounts with them already. From day 1, the process was so smooth. We met our Mortgage Advisor and immediately felt at ease. There were no pushy sales tactics and we really felt like she was on our side and trying to get the best deal for us. Great Mortgage Provider

A simple and cheap product which is easy to manage

Love my experience with Halifax around our mortgage. It’s been so simple to manage since we got it over 2 years ago. I can make overpayments on the banking app for any amount which is simple to use. I’ve also recently switched to a cheaper deal saving me money on the Halifax website in about 10 minutes. Fair when renewing my mortgage

I have had 3 fixed-rate mortgages now, with the Halifax, each time when re-fixing I researched and each time the Halifax has come up with competitive rates, offers and terms. It has been painless, simple and quick to re-fix. Reviewed on: 8th November 2017

Good but not always consistent

I have been with Halifax for over 20 years and generally I'm very pleased but lately they seem overworked and too busy to follow things up. I had to phone 3 times to get some documents sent by post. They need to sharpen up! Reviewed on: 29th June 2017

Easy to set up

We applied for a mortgage last year and had very choices as my husband had been resident in the UK for less than 2 years. Halifax was one of the few banks that were open to us and were able to obtain the mortgage and buy our first home with a 5% downpayment, they also had a 2,000 cashback offer at the time which was great to pay the fees.
