Simple - they offered the cheapest car insurance renewal quote by about £40. No problems at all with them. Reviewed on: 29th October 2016

Never using Hastings again in my lifetime.

So unhappy with them. V poor customer service. Having to chase at every stage. The accident was 100% not my fault yet they wish to settle on a knock for knock basis and take my £590 excess. Policy automatically renewed at this when or previously the excess was much lower. At a time when you need help, support and to be listened to DONT USE HASTINGS. Don't expect 5 star service when claiming

Perhaps not much different from other insurers, but my first and only experience of claiming on my 6-year-old Hastings Direct policy was fraught with delay on their part, and their unwillingness to pursue the other (at fault) driver's insurers because "we don't generally deal with liability issues", despite me providing them with all the photographic and documentary evidence they could possibly need. Result: I lost my excess and must live with having an "unrecovered" claim which puts up future premiums. Nothing happened to advance the claim without me having to phone them up at each stage to ask why they had done nothing since my last phone call. They told me that they were resolving their claims dept issues, but I'm off elsewhere after this experience. Reviewed on: 21st October 2016

Excellent, and very competative

I've been with Hastings for 4 years now and even though I've made a claim they still come out on top every year! Best price on the market. Recommended to family and friends who all agree there the best. Reviewed on: 9th October 2016

Best quote I could find but hassle when coming to a claim

The best price I could find when comparing car insurance, but I had to make a claim on one occasion. This resulted in a lot of hassle on the phone, being passed about to different people who didn't know the answer to simple questions. At one point I had 2 claims open for just the one claim so there seems to be a lack of communication somewhere along the line. Reviewed on: 8th October 2016

I had to ring Hastings direct to change my renewal quote and to add on some friends and family discount. Sounds simple enough but the whole process took over an hour. My renewal quote was changed easy enough but when it came to adding friends an family discount onto my policy I was given the wrong number for the department twice and transferred to the wrong department three times, two of which were done as a blind transfer which meant that I had to go though my inquiry and security checks all over again. I dread to think of the amount of time I spent on hold and how much these calls must have cost me. I would recommend Hastings Direct because of its competitive prices but their customer service is appealing. Reviewed on: 26th September 2016
