I’ve been trying to open a new account on the maturity of another. Sent my bank details in . Getting nowhere. Spoke to rather sulky girl on phone and did what she said but still no progress. Why am I bothering Reviewed on: 14th January 2025

A happy personal customer Charity Bonds poor.

I have always found Leek Building Society in Newcastle a pleasure to visit, as the staff are friendly, the premises is up to date, clean and airy and I have banked with Leek since Britania closed all their Agencies. Our recent big disappointment is that you have stopped Charity Bonds. I bank for myself and also for Girlguiding Newcastle, and one of our accounts was a Bond which matured in November, of a considerable amount which we have held with you for approximately 30 years. This needs to go into a high Interest Account, which you have stopped. I have visited several Building Societies and Banks in Newcastle, and no-one will accept it unless we move our accounts to them, which we don't want to do. Please will you reconsider allowing Charity Bonds which belong to existing customers/Charities ?. Please also will you tell me the reason for this change ?. I always regarded Leek as a verey community based Building Society - what has happened to this title ? Reviewed on: 14th January 2025
