Possible Improvements

When opening a regular savings account it would have been handy to have known in advance thast you need cash/cheque on the day, I thought you could do a bank transfer within 7days! Reviewed on: 3rd November 2023

The personal touch

Found a financial institution that's easy to contact by phone; what's more you can speak to a person. The cherry on the bun is that a real person rang me to inform me how the ISA transfer was proceeding ! Reviewed on: 3rd November 2023

Very easy process

Opened online account - very easy Once opened transferred £1 to make sure I had put in correct details. As it was 1st transfer took a while and rang customer services - very helpful. Second transaction went through very quickly Happy with overall experience Reviewed on: 3rd November 2023

Very poor communication

We gave notice to withdraw some money and the cheques sat in the building Society even though we asked for them to be posted to us. We had to ring up to find out where they were. We then gave notice to close the account several months later and told the building Society we we collect the cheques. A few days prior to the notice period ending we confirmed we would be collecting the cheques and gave a day/time for collecting. We then received a call the following day confirming everything is O.K. We went to collect them and discovered the cheques had been posted out to us???. Not sure why there is a serious breakdown in communication. Reviewed on: 3rd November 2023

Local building society, friendly and helpful staff

I recently opened a new account with MBS as the interest rate was the best at the time. The staff were very helpful, it’s good to be able to visit the branch to do it. When I forgot to transfer the money, staff phoned me to remind me- a real personal touch. Reviewed on: 3rd November 2023

Worth the effort

A bit miffed that I have to send proof of ID when I'm an existing customer, but it otherwise worked well. Will have to watch out when the interest rate drops after 12 months. Reviewed on: 2nd November 2023
