Review of the ManyPets, Pet insurance:

No.1 choice

5
I decided to get a quote from Bought By Many after a recommendation from a friend, and have not been disappointed, the website is easy and clear to use and have recently added another policy for a second pet. I would recommend anyone to try them, I am sure they will be plesantly surprised. Reviewed on: 1st August 2018

Avoid this company like the plague.

1
Avoid this company like the plague. My dog Percy needed some blood tests which came to £560, I paid admin to the vet to send Percy’s medical history over for the claim. I’d just switched jobs so didn’t have much at all at the time so £560+ admin was a lot of money for me to pay out in one go and notified manypets of this when asking when the claim would be paid as I literally couldn’t afford food at one point. When signing up for the policy the form clearly states ‘ if you don’t know your pets exact age give your best estimate. ‘ I adopted Percy from my dad who I am not in contact with so couldn’t give an EXACT date so I gave my best guess. It took over a month for them to come back to me to say they couldn’t continue the claim as Percy’s birthday on the policy didn’t match the date on his vet records despite the form saying it doesn’t have to be exact. I called up and they gave me the ultimatum - pay £100 there and then to continue the claim or more a month and they’ll knock £100 off my claim payout to account for the mistake I chose the latter as I really had no money. I was then notified that they’ll look into my claim again only to be told yet another month later that they’re requesting Percy’s medical history AGAIN like I’d not just paid 2 months prior to send it over and they notified me saying they had it. They then had another issue to try not pay out over Percy not seeing a vet for 2 years when he was healthy and happy during that time and did not need to see a vet. Every time you send them an email the response is always “we can’t help you” and they’ve just had the audacity to email me saying they’re automatically renewing my policy and have upped the monthly price. Over three months later with endless emails to no avail I am STILL yet to be paid for this claim Reviewed on: 27th July 2024

Claim being ignored, emails being ignored.

Claim being ignored, emails being ignored. I Have followed up with them every week with no updates or replies. The claim was created correctly and the vet gave all the info needed. Not a precondition and still, we have received no reply after many weeks. Reviewed on: 18th June 2024

No communication or payment

Made a claim 26th Feb 2024 (three and a half months ago) - they've still not paid, it's not even been assigned a claim handler yet, have called up and sent numerous emails, even raised an official complaint which they have not responded to. On the phone they said I'd receive an update 7 to 10 days after but I was not contacted. I told them if I didn't hear back regarding my complaint within 8 weeks I would contact the financial ombudsman but they've not even responded to that. Awful company, they don't pay out and they don't communicate at all. They're happy to keep taking money for premiums though! Reviewed on: 9th June 2024

Avoid. Will not pay out large claims

1
I have been paying manypets between 150 and 180 and month for 5 years. I thought I would pay for a high quality insurer to get the best service, how wrong I was. I could have picked the lowest priced insurer and got the same rubbish service. In April I had a scan for my dogs limp. I raised a claim for the scan and waited for manypets to pay back to me. In the months that followed. My dog was diagnosed with cancer, lived out his final months, died and his ashes returned to me in a box. STILL manypets have not processed his initial claim. They are doing everything they can to avoid paying out, dragging their feet at every possible step. I realise now that I wasted that money and could have just used the cheaper insurers and got the same results. Reviewed on: 5th June 2024

Tokk £160 from our bank after the policy was cancelled!

1
We decided to cancel our policy with Many pets as the renewal quote was 100% higher than previous year! We already have conditions which are excluded, so the amounts we claim have been very minimal. £160 per month for a cocker spaniel is ridiculous! Anyway, I cancelled the policy online, but surprise surprise the robbing company MANY PETS have decided to take £160 from our bank account today, AFTER THE POLICY WAS CANCELLED!!!! I rang them and apparently it is going to take 10 days for us to get the money back! Seriously!!! This is causing us not being able to make our direct debit payments or buy petrol now!!! Total daylight robbery!! I have filed a complaint and will be taking this to financial ombudsman! AVOID this company at all cost! You will end up penniless! There was no apology or empathy! Total joke of a company! Reviewed on: 8th May 2024

Good at first but if you claim the price of your premium will rocket up, mine tripled in a year! The company is losing a lot of money and this is being forced onto customers. Its a nightmare to contact anyone and you cant change your payments date. Stay well clear! Reviewed on: 6th February 2024

Watch out for deductions for a £25 admin fee and £1 blood bank deduction on top of the excess you have to pay. Couldn't see anywhere in the policy that makes customers aware that you'll have these deducted from any claim you make. Reviewed on: 31st January 2024

Not paying out claims fast enough

1
I am a disabled pensioner and put in a claim for my pet a month ago, in fact there are four claims. My pet needs more urgent treatment and I can't pay for this until Many Pets have reimbursed me. What are we supposed to do, surrender our pets to a rescue as we can't afford to have further treatment? This is disgusting, we pay our insurance every month and this is how they treat their customers! Reviewed on: 29th January 2024

Avoid at all costs!

Hi there. I’m a very unhappy customer, who has used your service since it was bought by many. I have spent 10 years insuring my two Great Danes with you. Having just lost one beloved dog I am appalled at your exclusions at end of life care and the fundamental cover which you claim to offer. This is a warning to all people that use this company. Read the small print. They do not cover what you think. Avoid this company. Shocking. We are heartbroken at our loss and disappointed and disgusted that the company we trusted has let us down at this time. Our premium went from £200 per month, to £600 per month. Cover reduced as our beautiful dogs aged….we are appalled. You should be aware. Reviewed on: 22nd January 2024
