Monzo offer a free bank account for under 16s, with controls set by their parent or guardian.

Kids get their own neon card and can see their money in the Monzo app. Parents or Guardians can keep an eye on the account, set spending limits and schedule pocket money.

I received the email to go on the waiting list for the under 16s account for my child and didnt have to wait long before being able to set it up. Its been the easiest thing to manage. I can see it on my panel.of accounts and I can organise my daughters account from mine. Pocket money is split into pots automatically once set up. My daughter can view and learn to manage her own account too with her own access. Cards a brightly coloured so can be easily spotted. Reviewed on: 23rd February 2026
