Shocking Service to Stop a Payout

Took out More Than house insurance, paid top price as I thought I was getting a good policy. Had a few leaks in the house due to plumbing issues. Decorating for part of my house they only offered me 1/3 of what I was entitled to, (£2000 instead of £6000) they pressured me to accept £2000. I got independent advice from Trading Standards and was advised to get independent arbitration involved, as soon as I mentioned independent arbitration they paid out the proper cost within an hour of mentioning it. I put in an honest claim for water damage which was covered by my policy, More Than was unprofessional and done everything they could to not pay me what I was entitled to. They lied to me several times during the claims process and kept changing their position, my position was I was entitled to what I was insured for, nothing less nothing more. The way they went about processing my claim was untrustworthy and put a sour taste in my mouth. My policy is ending in April 2023, two months before my policy ended they sent me a letter stating they were not renewing my policy ‘This is because of our concerns around your claims history’. What a shameful letter from More Than, I’ll be reporting the claims process they put me through to the Ombudsman. Avoid this company if you want proper insurance. Reviewed on: 1st March 2023

Regret going with MoreThan- think twice before choosing them

Call waiting times >1 hour each time Incompetent contractors and engineers, Long waiting times for Emergency works to be completed, my claim took over 1 month and 3 visits, and still not done Terrible customer service, takes 2-3 hours to get through to them. Their Home Emergency contractors CET are equally incompetent. No follow through with the previous visits and notes, each new engineer has no idea what the status of the issue is, and one of the engineers' solution to my heating issue was to hit and knock a couple of thermostats, and it was "all restored". They're laughable, if you read this while deliberating your home insurance options, cross out MoreThan very quickly. Reviewed on: 3rd January 2023

Not very helpful

I have been with morethan 2 years now and will be looking to cancel my policy. I feel very let down by them from trying to make a claim due to a ceiling leak. I contacted them and they sent out an engineer who assessed the situation and told me that 'as it is under laminate and there is potentially aspestos under the floorboards upstairs that he isn't covered and said to speak to more than' He said he had put notes on the case for them to read. The engineer left and I contacted them to be told 'we can't see any notes and due to what has happened you need need to find a plumber yourself and then claim back the costs yourself if you feel the need too'. At this point I was quite annoyed, I then asked why this wasn't the case for 2 previous leaks I' had and it was explained to me that they only fix if it is easy to get too whereby this one wasn't because of the laminate. I didn't argue further as a whole day had been wasted and I had spent 3 hours on the phone to have nothing accomplished! I have been severely let down by more than as the severerity of the damage could have been lessened if I hadn't wasted a day plus I had paid extra for trace and access on my policy when the engineer wasn't able to help! And the comment about aspestos was a load of rubbish! To sum up I will be cancelling with them and going elsewhere as I can't rely on them, I am just lucky the leak wasn't in a more difficult to reach place and if it were more severe I would have been in big trouble! Morethan Home Emergency refuse to honour their insurance contracts. I had a blocked drain, toilet and sink backed up. Morethan Home Emergency sent out an engineer who said he wouldn't fix it because I had another working toilet. (Nothing in the policy wording about that). I Waited in for 6 hours. Called to make a complaint and they called me back at 1.45am waking me up so i didn't get a good night's sleep. Thoroughly ****** *** and exhausted. Don't buy Home Emergency Cover from Morethan. Pestering

Didn’t renew my home policy with them as the price had shot up. Found same cover much cheaper elsewhere. HOWEVER they have kept contacting me to say that I haven’t renewed (and even wrote to my husband as he was an “interested party” saying the cover was not renewed). You’d think they would consider that putting their price up so much from one year to the next would encourage people to insure elsewhere! Reviewed on: 8th December 2022

No peace of mind with More Than.

This is an honest, constructive and helpful review, with some serious emotions attached to it! I had noticed I lost some verge tiles of my roof. It had rained quite a lot and had been extremely windy the previous night, so made the link with the tiles coming off then. Didn’t see it happen, but found part of it in the garden. I ticked the box weather related on the insurance form as that was my assumption. I was informed by More Than I would get a visit from BVS, but I had to wait a week before they could get to me. Time to check the company out and I read the poor reviews on Trust Pilot and also Google. I was really shocked and scared and phoned More Than with my concerns. I was told that all the bad reviews are from people being told by BVS they did not have a legitimate claim because it was wear and tear and they were annoyed. I said I wasn't concerned about that as the roof was fairly new. I was more concerned about mentions of aggression and rudeness, and also the fact they were not registered. He said they were registered and to ring them back if they were aggressive, so I said I would allow them to come and keep an open mind. I know they record their conversations, so at least it would be on record. LITTLE DID I KNOW! Jack Winwood arrived. Not rude, or unpleasant. Nothing much to say really. Went to the back garden with a camera on a pole. You cannot see the roof edge from the back garden and I questioned it, but his answer was: "I will be alright". He came to the the conclusion the "storm" didn't meet the criteria. I said I had not used the word storm, but had put weather related on the form as that was what I thought had caused it. I had not seen it happen and assumed it happened the previous night when it had been very windy. I said that I also had accidental insurance. He said:”Yes, but you don’t know if was accidental.” I then replied: Please do not tell me it is wear and tear, because the roof is fairly new and no one else has any missing tiles.”He appeared not willing to discuss it further and he legged it, leaving the form he had filled in. My husband went out. Jack Winwood reluctantly turned around but said he did not want to discuss it further. I have the “not willing conversation “ on my Ring doorbell. On the form he has written "natural breakdown". This housing estate is fairly new and not one of the neighbours has 'natural breakdown'. Absolutely ridiculous and very upsetting. With hindsight I should have refused and asked for someone else. Insurance should mean having peace of mind when something happens. I should have known better…. Scam!!

They cancelled my policy without sending me any letter or email saying I did not provide them proof od address!!!! There was nothing about sending prof of address in the policy document they sent me. They pay me 70 sterling less than what I paid and did anything wrond. Avoid! Reviewed on: 12th November 2022

Flood to disaster

Flood on 23rd Dec two years ago to our house. Took 8 months to dry house out work was completed to an incredibly low standard. We still have paper peeling off, doors stuck as painted, floor boards shrinking ( which they say is due to damp lol) in our conservatory, fan heater that never got checked by the electrician who installed it and has never worked, the list goes on....the house had only just been decorated and was a hell of alot better than it is now. I really hope my mother can sell and move as its really upsetting and depressing. Reviewed on: 8th November 2022
