Completing My Mortgage

I've just finished paying my mortgage. Newbury Building Society has been very helpful to us and they have programmes that helped us complete our payments early. This is even without the usual penalty that other banks give. We also appreciate the fact that we live in the town where the main office is located so it was so easy to communicate with them if we have any concerns. The staff was so helpful and the bank contacted us regarding the incoming completion of our mortgage. They also advise us on what to do next. Over-all we are so happy that we have NBS as our mortgage provider. Reviewed on: 19th December 2021

Various unnecessary complications, partly down to NBS conditions on the mortgage

Apart from the excellent service from Eve McDowell (mortgage advisor) the service from NBS was poor. For a relatively small mortgage ( less than 20% of value ) NBS insisted on doing another survey despite an extensive survey having already been done and an additional report by a structural engineer .... which added costs. In addition NBS insisted that I use a solicitor to handle the mortgage. This was expensive and ended up giving me a real headache as the mortgage came with pre-conditions which were completely messed up by my solicitor. Not directly the fault of NBS but the pre-conditions were totally unnecessary in the first place. Reviewed on: 16th December 2021

Extending our Mortgage

Newbury could not have been more helpful. We have always found this since we first switched to them. Nothing was too much trouble, all sorted very quickly. Staff could not have been more helpful. I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone. Reviewed on: 10th December 2021

Excellent service from start to finish

My main point of contact at the Newbury was endlessly patient, very well informed, and most helpful. My first attempt at a house purchase fell through, but I went back again a year later and received the same helpful service despite COVID-19. I am retired abd was impressed by the options available for a mortgage for someone of my age. Thoroughly recommended. Reviewed on: 3rd December 2021

NBS were not offering a Fixed rate mortgage which is very disappointing as I have been a mortgage customer for 5 years. I ended up going to my Bank who helped me with a fixed rate mortgage NBS are not competitive and need to look at this
