Fabulous customer service

I am delighted to have recently set up a Treasure Plus savings account with the Newbury Building Society. I was pleased with the interest rate offered (much higher than other high street building societies/banks) and I received excellent customer service from Charlotte Couch. She was able to do all the necessary paperwork without me having to make an appointment to return on another day, was extremely professional, helpful and informative, explaining everything very clearly. I was able to phone her directly a few days later to check some details and she was, once more, very helpful. It was so refreshing to be dealt with in this way. Reviewed on: 28th October 2019

New customer - opening a savings account

What a contrast to being a customer at the likes of Santander, where there are two inauthentic employees standing near the entrance to greet you as you enter while only one employee sits behind the cashier's desks. At Newbury Building Society, there were two employees behind cashier's desks when I turned up a little early for my scheduled meeting with Will Simpson. Will was friendly, ethical, informative and efficient in opening a savings account for me as a new customer. As promised, I received my savings book the following morning in the post. Nice company to do business with

I called in to my local branch to open a savings account; the interest rate was competitive and I was keen to find a local company to invest with. The staff at the branch were so friendly and very professional. Very pleased with my investment. Reviewed on: 28th October 2019

Good savings interest rate but they don't make it easy ...

I have used many online banks but I can honestly say signing up and depositing money with the Newbury has been the most painful ever. Rather than having one sign up option they have multiple so I ended up creating my account on third attempt. Then I deposited money and had most returned as they had limits which I hadn't seen. Good rate but don't expect a simple application .. practice meditation and calmness in advance ... It will really help. Reviewed on: 19th October 2019

Experienced Staff

We had meetings with a few other banking services and had to wait weeks for appointments. On speaking to Newbury Building Society we found them offering a good interest and everything was made so easy and we never had to book and wait to discuss what we needed. The member of staff we spoke to guided us directly to what we required and knew the best account for us, amazing service. Reviewed on: 18th October 2019

Easy to set up new account online

I wanted to open a new account and going into the Accounts Online Tool was able to do this easily and get the account number straight away to arrange a bank transfer. A letter by post confirming terms and conditions etc was received the following day. As the incoming credit did not show straight away I sent a message to check everything was ok and I received a speedy response confirming safe response Reviewed on: 18th October 2019

Take your money...then keep it.

A joke organisation. Easy to open an account. Verification codes entered, proof of receiving account sent. A few months later when we need to withdraw money, no permission as they deny receiving proof of receiving account and say we didn't verify our online banking which we had to do to be logged in. Utter disgrace leaving us in difficulty and £6000 overdrawn. Reviewed on: 11th October 2019

Good rates and very east to deal with

I am a fairly newcomer to Newbury BS. I opened an online easy access savings account last year, and have now opened another at a slightly higher rate. The website is easy to navigate, and the text is plain English and easy to understand. I've also dealt with them over the phone, and again a no-hassle straighforward approach.
