Review of the O2 Drive (inactive company), Car insurance (discontinued):

Worse Car Insurance company I have ever seen in 30 years of driving

1
O2 Drive came up as a reasonable car insurance comparison quote, and I picked them because of the 5-star Defaqto score. Little did I know that the Defaqto score is just for the options offered , NOT the quality or review score. O2 Drive is a new service set up by mobile company O2, on the cheap, to cash in on the lucrative car insurance market. So while the advertising seems good, after being with them for a year, I am utterly shocked at how poor the service was, and how downright unhelpful and arrogant the majority of online staff were, when you do actually need their help. For instance, I finally has a minor accident after 7 years no-claims, but when I reported it, I found I had accidentally mistyped a letter in my registration number, but the documents I had sent over actually had the correct details. When I had to lodge a claim, O2 Drive gleefully told me that they wouldn't accept it because I had made an error, and it wasn't their responsibility to check my other documents even if they had been requested, so rejected it. They told me I would have to contact their underwriter Ageas myself. Ageas were sympathetic at first, but then later came back and told me that O2 Drive had totally bluntly refused to accept my claim, so I had to pay for the massive insurance repairs to both cars myself. When I tried talking to O2 Drive again, the handler actually laughed and made fun of me, telling me I "should be grateful the police didn't come and arrest me for driving without insurance" after mistyping my number-plate. Giving the correct details in the rest of the documents doesn't count. I wasn't happy at the vervice, and did complain, but then O2 Drive just dismissed it. O2 Drive never bothered contacting me ever again, and I renewed car insurance with another company, then found O2 Drive had the nerve to automatically RENEW my car insurance with them without even telling me, and without my permission. A totally incompetent, "just 9-5", bunch of minimal-wage staff, who have no idea of customer service, and just don't care. Please avoid until they actually introduce even a little customer care. Cannot speed at ALL.

If you go just over 70mph for reasons of overtaking in your car on the motorway then you will be flagged. 3 flags and it’s gameover. They will cancel your insurance and this can affect your policy for future insurance companies. Your driver like myself it’s a NEVER AGAIN. Don’t do it to yourself even if your saving some money, not worth the hassle honestly. Reviewed on: 11th August 2018

Do Not Use

1
no point in making sure you have the o2drive app when it doesn't even work, black box is literally taped to your battery and they will cancel the policy if the battery gets changed as it trips the recorder in this. There is a reason why they come out so cheap Reviewed on: 7th August 2018

Useless scamming thieves

1
They won’t accept the emailed copies of no claims. Sent original but they somehow don’t have it?? Utterly useless customer service that couldn’t care less in fact I doubt he even had my policy up on the screen when patronising me. Lots of threatening emails for cancelling and charging £60 because I haven’t sent them proof of no claims. Now I don’t have my no claims paperwork because they have it. This company is on a par with Vodafone, and that is not a compliment. Do not use, they are clueless. Reviewed on: 24th July 2018

O2 Oh No

1
When the renewal came around it was approx £400 more than I got it for from another provider !! I’m 63 with a clean license and 10 years no claims !! About a month after I finished with them they sent me rude emails followed up by Ryder phone calls saying I owed them £25 for missing a payment ? Which they passed onto a debt collector. Just a horrible company. Avoid at all costs ... Reviewed on: 3rd July 2018

Set up my daughter's car insurance with tem twice it has been cancelled through no fault of hers, this time they took there money 4 days later cancelled due to a second fault with her black box stating they have tried to contact her to do a diagnostic but they have not attempted to get hold of her at all now they want to start a new policy again and want yet more money upfront total con artists!!!! Reviewed on: 4th May 2018

Terrible

1
Was reasonably priced  in the first place insuring a 2.0 BMW at 18 only cost me 2.5k with black box (not too bad). Forgot to mention a minor non fault accident a named driver had 3 years ago and bumped my premium up to 3.5k.  Reviewed on: 26th April 2018

RUBBISH Black Box

1
Took out insurance with these thieves and they cancelled insurance because the black box stopped working. Phoned them to resolve and they said no engineers were available to look at the box so cancellation stands. SO UNFAIR THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT TREATING CUSTOMERS UNFAIRLY and the government needs to step in to stop these these cowboys ruining peoples driving records unfairly. Reviewed on: 25th April 2018

Cheapest but the worst

I will never go with 02 insurance again terrible service and when you get a black box to be fitted they are always hours late or don’t turn up and expect you to be available anytime during the week because they do not fit on the weekends. Awful do not go with 02 . Reviewed on: 17th April 2018
