Review of the Post Office, Travel Insurance:

Do not use "Post Office" travel insurance take a net...

1
Do not use "Post Office" travel insurance take a nettle with you at least when you touch it you will know you have been stung. Mere criminals maskarading as legitimate traders. We all know insurance is a con in most cases, not worth the paper it's written on but never thought such a recognised brand could act so low. Living in a rural area with no public transport or contactable taxi service, our own vehicle our lifeline about to set out 04:15 for flight 07:15 discovering our battery was flat and rushed around for an alternative, try that in a rural area 5am. Long story short missed my flight and paid a rescue fee to Easyjet next available flight, 3 days later obviously missing that period of my holiday also. Having this misfortune remembering my Post Office insurance I saw a very dim light at the end of the tunnel, which was soon extinguished when I reached out to "Post Office" claims call handlers. Twice relaying my predicament they hung up, all stuck in some sweat shop in India, had loose understanding of the English language and even less in the use of the language. Then questioned like a criminal as if I intensionally missed my flight, loosing three days of my holiday!!. Luckily I've had the misfortune of coming across such charlatans before and well versed in the services of the Financial Ombudsman, which I can assure the Post Office is where they are going to be overhauled. Diabolical & useless

Wasted £260. Buy a chocolate teapot, much more useful. Flight delay & baggage delay not covered, apparently Reviewed on: 19th April 2023

Pointless

Purchased travel insurance for our holiday in May 2022, had to unfortunately seek medical attention whilst on holiday. Attempted to claim this back when I returned home as per the policy and still no further forward, they have emailed asking for more information for the third time but when I attempt to reply it sends a message back to say their inbox is full and also unable to get through on the phone it just rings and rings. Luckily it was only approximately £100 so I have resigned myself to the fact I won’t get this money back, however, I purchase travel insurance so I’m covered which this policy hasn’t fulfilled, feel like I wasted my money purchasing cover. Would always discourage anyone from purchasing travel insurance from the post office very very poor and doesn’t fulfil its purpose. Reviewed on: 6th April 2023

This Firm are Are Crooks!!!

15 months and still waiting for payout on our travel insurance…Dozens of emails and to date no end in site. After being in quarantine in Dubai for 1 month they have not paid a single penny compensation!! Collinsons who deal with their claim ‘s are nothing short of corrupt!!! Beware of this….It’s terrible they keep asking the same questions over and over again. Then the whole process starts all over again !!! Reviewed on: 14th March 2023

Dreadful - barriers to claim

Flight delay over an hour should have been auto payout. Now asking me for written confirmation from airline. Reviewed on: 14th March 2023

Barriers to making a claim

1
Claiming online (as recommended) involves a website with basic faults (eg no option of entering password twice so you can check it, no 'eye' icon so you can see it). Password reset message not sent. Stuck. Ringing customer services gets you stuck in a queue of music on a loop, deliberately so you give up. How on earth are you meant to make a claim within the specified three months of the incident? Reviewed on: 8th March 2023

Horrible service and scammers

1
They automatically renewed my Health Insurance and withdrew the money from my account. I called them to complain, they apologised and promised me a refund in the next 5 working days, which I never receieved despite my continious calls chasing it 6 week later, I still haven't receved my money. The worst part is some of their advisers teated me like an idiot sometimes or a crook other times. Reviewed on: 25th January 2023

7 months and still waiting

I purchased an annual world travel insurance policy with the Post Office. It seemed very comprehensive and very easy to buy. Unfortunately I had my suitcase damaged beyond repair by an airline in June 2022, and had to make a claim. It's been an absolute fiasco since then, with no one seemingly taking any interest in my claim, intermittent emails from them asking for the same information all over again, the occasional apology for the delay, but no reassurance that this will ever be resolved. I feel lucky that i didn't have a really serious health or hospital claim involving a great deal of money, so in many ways I feel I've got off lightly. Will never buy PO travel insurance again - they don't deal with claims in a timely manner, or in my case, not at all so far. Reviewed on: 23rd January 2023

Would give no stars if I could

I have used Post Office Insurance for a number of years but will not use them again after a recent very poor experience. Customer Services emails contained incorrect information and referred to information that wasn’t contained within my policy. I had 3 emails and a frustrating call with a poor guy in Customer Services, who tried to be helpful, but could not answer my query and his manager, kept telling him the information I’d been given in email was correct. I eventually got an apology and confirmation they had been “Looking at the wrong policy”. The way the emails were written were totally unprofessional. All a shambles. Reviewed on: 18th January 2023

Worst ever insurance with travel company ever

1
Outsourced to collison UK who don't answer the phone, don't reply to emails. Reject claims on technicalities e.g. they want a letter for the cause of airplane delay which I have tried several times to get but been unable to (the airline have lost this information) and can only give me the time of delay. Left £3000 out of pocket as abandoned in Europe during a multi-leg trip to SE Asia. Take weeks to respond only to add arbitrary new hoops for you to jump through. I am sorry I gave £70 to this awful company. Reviewed on: 17th January 2023

Ripped off

I had annual travel insurance with the Post Office. They wrote to me before renewal to advise they could no longer offer cover, without explanation, so I purchased cover elsewhere. I’ve just looked at my bank statement and they have taken a premium, the same as last year! Reviewed on: 12th January 2023
