Review of the Purely Pets, Pet insurance:

Poor service, slow claims process, rising premiums

With insurance, there are limited interactions upon which to base your judgment. My experiences with Purely Pets thus far have generally been unfavourable. In fairness, the premiums seem competitive for the level of cover - although we will only truly be able to assess that if/when they pay out on a claim! However, they have increased the premium aggressively in year two, despite our pets being young, healthy (no prior claims) and kept indoors. They increased our premiums further when we told them we had moved (from West London to home counties and the pets never leave the house, so it's hard to see what possible change there could be to the risk profile). And now to my ongoing claim. Purely Pets don't pay for treatment up front so you are already having to incur expenses and wait to claim back. Then they have busted through their already lengthy claim assessment period with nothing but standard, identically worded text messages in the meantime, telling me not to worry. I sent a message to follow up and they have busted through their timeframe for responding to that too! Will they ever respond? Will they ever process my claim? The customer service is slow to non-existent and the fervour with which they increase premiums is another bad sign. (My claim has not yet been assessed, so this review is not influenced by a good or bad result). Reviewed on: 23rd August 2024

Cheapest pet insurance

Purely Pets insurance is by far the cheapest insurance that I could find for the amount of lifetime cover that I was looking for, so far if I have had any queries they have always been very good in helping me them, I can't comment on the claim side of things as of yet as I haven't needed to make a claim but it all seems very simple and the staff are lovely and friendly and only a phone call away if you need any help, hopefully the renewal price won't go up to much but we will see about that when the time arises. So far so good, i would reccomend to others based upon my experiences so far. Reviewed on: 13th July 2020

Best pet insurance ever

I would recommend purely pets to anyone always polite whenever I have spoken with them over the phone, nothing is ever too much for them and they always see if there is anything else they can help with so much better than some places that just sound robotic these seem like a genuine group of people! Only just joined but unbeatable price!!

Inaccurate website and terrible service

Purely Pets quoted very reasonably for our two mixed breed dogs (Labradoodles). The only options on the internet were Pure, Cross or Pedigree. When we had reason to call to change bank details, they told us that the quote was wrong, and that the premium was nearly 50% higher because of the breed. They couldn't explain why their website didn't ask for this information. I'm still arguing this point with them. Very little knowledge available from their call centre. Reviewed on: 6th July 2020
