Simple to use

Easy to access banking through the app. Strangely the branches close half way through the. Day so it's a good job the online banking works well. Get plenty perks too like free accounting software an extra account for saving. Reviewed on: 11th April 2023

Pointless but amusing waste of time

I have operated an RBS business account for 2.5 years, the account has existed for about 7 years. No matter what I try I cannot view or download statements more recent than Aug 2019. The Cora "AI" assistant is useless, and when it hands you on to a real person, it's not real, but a text 3 or 4 hours later. This tells you to log back in to the Message Us part of the app. There isn't a Message Us in the app, just the useless Cora - here we go round the Mulberry bush. Thank goodness it's just a business account. I wouldn't touch this bank with a barge-pole for my own accounts. Reviewed on: 11th June 2022

Abysmal customer service, hopeless systems, if there is a shit encrusted wellie award, they win hands down.

Probably not enough words. How about 6 episodes of screwing up a CHAPS transfer in 48 hours resulting in costs of £2500 on my part, plus ten hours on the telephone? And lying about the reasons, then just admitting they had a problem with their systems bit not letting customers talk to the team dealing with the problem? Perhaps not being able to understand the need for two payees (credit card accounts) with the same company (Amex), but with different numbers (as they are different cards and not allowing this to be set up on Digital Banking; advising me that whilst this cannot be done in the app, it can be done if talking directly to someone on the telephone banking; them saying yes, no problem, and finding that it cannot be done; being told but eh complaints team that the details just provided to them by the person trying to help me have not been entered in the complaint record and after explaining again, the complaints rep then saying "ok, let me read what they wrote down..." RBS are LIARS. Then there is the "linked hi interest account" fiasco, where you get an SMS every morning telling you that your current account is going to go overdrawn even when there are funds in the linked deposit account, because the system cannot deal with the linked accounts; or not being able to see loan details online? Or, just being constantly told you can only do things in branch, when there is no branch within 25 miles as they have set them all? They are too big to control their own people, no-one in their teams takes ownership of a customer's problem, they simply DO NOT CARE. Reviewed on: 17th March 2021

Never had a problem

I have been with this bank for over 40 years, I joined it as Williams & Glynns, I have honestly never had a problem, they have always been helpful and any issues have been quickly resolved. I opened a business account with them 2 years back and it has been seamless working between my current accounts etc. I have only one issue, they are asking us to move bank as the Government are forcing them to shed people, due to having a monopoly of business customers. The problem is, the banks recommended are reviewed as very poor, so I'm a bit worried to move. I am very happy with my experience over the past 40 years, I think they are very good Reviewed on: 16th March 2019

Awful customer service

Had a very bad experience involving my business account with staff in branch and over the phone not able to give me meaningful and helpful advice as a result the whole process was complicated and could of been easier if staff members had taken me through the process on my first point of contact. Very happy I no longer hold an account with RBS and would never go back. Reviewed on: 22nd November 2018
