Good current account with premium

Phone and travel insurance includend in my 12£ current silver account that pay it of it self thanks to the 3% cashback you get with your DD. Reviewed on: 21st July 2017

CASHFLOW PROBLEM

I RECENTLY HAD A CASH FLOW PROBLEM,AND AT THE TIME,THE BANK WAS MY LAST HOPE.THEY,SORTED THINGS OUT FOR ME,THERE AND THEN,NO HASSLE.VERY HELPFUL AND COURTIOUS SERVICE. Reviewed on: 21st July 2017

Nothing special

I have had an account with RBS for 18 years, and have just moved to the Bank of Scotland as they have a much better account. I have not had any problems with RBS, their staff have always been friendly. However, the actual Select Account is nothing special, it's very basic. I had a visa debit card but for some reason RBS refused to give me a contactless card (I asked twice, and have never had problems with the account!). I have had an account at TSB for a few years now which has a contactless card, as has my new Bank of Scotland account. RBS also don't pay interest on their Select Account (both the TSB and Bank of Scotland do pay interest), and the interest rates on their savings accounts are terrible. They do have another reward account which pays cashback on direct debits, but there is a monthly fee so I wouldn't earn that much switching to it as my bills are quite low. All in all, RBS are okay. The account is basic, it's nothing special. I think I have found better accounts elsewhere. So while I would not tell people to avoid RBS, there are much better accounts out there. Poor rewards

Rbs was good pre banking crash. They now offer the least incentive to bank with them but they do have very good customer service Reviewed on: 30th May 2017

Suppose it's not a bad current account

... but the interest is awful and they fairly consistently change the T&Cs as it suits them. I'd probably feel much better about my bank, where it not for the fact that they technically owe me, as a taxpayer, several tens of thousands of pounds after their bailout. Reviewed on: 4th April 2017

Loads of benefits

People might be put of with the £18 monthly fee, however, the benefits of travel insurance, breakdown cover and mobile phone insurance plus loads more, soon make you forget about the monthly fee! Reviewed on: 4th April 2017
