Complete rip off company

We have had our buildings and contents insurance with Rias for 5 years. We moved out of our property at the end of October into a relatives house so didn't need to take the insurance with us. They charged us a £60 exit fee even though our Direct Debit for November was taken in the sum of £20, which would cover us for a month we aren't even living at the property. Bullying an eighty two year old man into submission disgusts me on every level! I have waited on the phone for one hour and fifteen minutes and when I got through I was cut off. I am back in the queue so have decided to explain my issue with this company. My eighty two year old father had storm damage to the roof of his house over three weeks ago. The winds were recorded at over sixty miles per hour at the time. He called Rias insurance who he has a policy with and after one hour and fifteen minutes he got through. He explained the event and the recorded winds were checked by the company and they accepted that he was insured for the damage. They said they would appoint a roofer to repair the damage.(C.R.Morris LTD) A week later a a man turned up with a camera and said he was there to assess the damage and he came from an independent company. He told my father that the roof had been repaired before and took full advantage of my fathers age related vulnerability and then left. My father had not heard from them so after two weeks he called Rias and was told they would not be carrying out the repairs, he asked why and they said the assessor had rejected the claim. I have a legal representative onboard as water is likely to be entering the property by now, and they are in breach of their contract! Bullying an eighty two year old man into submission disgusts me on every level! Scammers

Do not answer phone calls, ignore claims. Over month after storm no correspondence no insurance assessment nothing Worse insurance company by far ever had misfortune to insure with. Going to seek advise from insurance Ombudsman This company should not be trading Extremely unfair towards consumer!!! Reviewed on: 28th March 2022

Horrible Company

I was hit by another driver and they told me that I should pay a £350 excess and would be returned to me after a month. Its been 6 months now and have still not received my refund even after chasing. Simply horrible! Reviewed on: 14th March 2022

Disgusting company no service

This is possibly the worse insurance company on the market.They dont see to any phone, calls, emails and any kind of communication. I had a burst pipe with water gushing out and have been unable for days so far to get hold of anybody. They dont care they jus take your money and run. I think I migh have a legal battle on my hands with them. I can only say stay away from this scam company. Reviewed on: 24th February 2022

Pitiful

Storm Eunice had just blown ridge tiles from my roof, smashing other tiles on their way down. Rain water seeping in. House is only 18 months old. Phoned Rias. Utterly pointless. Made no effort to help me but went to great lengths to wriggle out of a claim. Insisted that the excess would be £300 even though the policy says excess is £75. Then said that Storm Eunice was not a storm – it was only a ‘strong gale’ and as such I could not claim! It is difficult to handle this level of stupidity I have raised a complaint but to receive such a pitiful level of service at a time of very considerable stress is unforgivable. These cowboy tactics only serve to deter people from buying insurance. Reviewed on: 20th February 2022

Stay clear of Rias insurance

No customer loyalty with Rias they just don't care, they will not try to help anyone who is insured with them.They choose to laspe your policy within hours of it not being renewed, other insurers give you time if you have a good reason, as I did. A company that does not value customers who have been with them years and not had any claims

Insured with them for years because I was a few hours late renewing my policy they told me it would now be £90 more, terrible unreliable don't tell you the truth this company. Don't insure with them, or you will be sorry. Reviewed on: 16th February 2022

Not at all telling people how I have been treated by them, so they do not insure with them

10 years insured and missed my renewal by hours and they said now it's lapsed so it will cost£90. More. Found insurance £40 cheaper than original quote so will not ever insure with them or recommend them ever again. They do not respect loyal customers who have never claimed. Toilet not flushing.

I tried to report the problem by phone in September 2021, as I had taken our plumbing insurance earlier in the year. After waiting on hold for 20 minutes, I decided to report it via email. Someone rang me from RIAS the next day, but I missed the call. He said that he wanted to 'talks to me about it' I rang several times about it and each time was on hold for an average of half an hour. This went on throughout September, October, November. I didn't always manage to speak to anyone, as sometimes I couldn't cope with the repetition of Mozart 40 on a loop!! I sent several emails during this time, with little or no response, apart from an email saying that I was not covered for the repair. Finally, at the beginning of December, I rang a number which was answered straight away and a plumber was sent within 24 hours!! i had explained during my call that the cistern was behind a panel and was told that this would not be an issue. When the plumber arrived, he apologised and explained that the panel could not be removed as not covered by insurance!! I immediately rang RIAS and was told that it was covered and was out on hold. 40 minutes later I was told that it wasn't. I had to find someone to come and remove/replace panel. eventually, the plumber came back and did an excellent job within 2 days. I have now received a letter from AXA insurance saying that they are sorry to hear my complaint bout the plumbing job!! I have had to send an email explaining that my complaint was not about the plumber but about RIAS. I have also telephoned the plumber direct saying the same thing. I am 75 years of age and this whole thing has been very stressful for me. Apologies for the long rant. RIAS have also kindly renewed my policy!!! Reviewed on: 7th January 2022

Incompetent and no customer service

Rang to advise that my Mum had passed away and that we needed to keep the house and contents insurance as I still had the house. Was told to expect call from specialist dept. that deals with this event. 2.5 days later, nothing. Rang again only to be told policy had been cancelled following my earlier call. Asked to reinstate, they took payment for one months premium from my debit card then after a few minutes I was advised it could not be reinstated. Would not refund my payment as said payments are made in advance and yet the policy had only been in force for 18 days. How can they charge me a full months premium when they wrongly cancelled the policy after just 18 days.. Very poor service Reviewed on: 23rd June 2021
