Review of the Saga, Car Insurance:

Will never use SAGA again

1
Had an "incident" where a driver ran a red light, cutting across me, and I slammed into her at about 40mph. My VW Polo worked brilliantly - crumple zone, airbags etc, but I got out alive. The car is a write off. Other person admitted liability, and in fairness kept that stance with her insurance company - Admiral. This happened on a Saturday at 11.00am, and by 5.00pm I had contacted SAGA, and gave all the details and was given the email address to send the photos and dashcam video to SAGA. Did this - and since (It is now Thurdsay pm) then SAGA, have not contacted me at all, despite me phoning up every day. Today I was told that SAGA are only the brokers, and that I should contact Ageas, the underwriters !! I was also told that Ageas would ring me back - never happened. The company that has come out of this well, is Admiral. They contacted me (having got my details from their client), and told me that SAGA had not forwarded any details or photos or my dashcam footage, but that their client admitted full fault, and that i could ask SAGA to close the claim, which would lead to a faster resolution, and less cost to both companies. Today I have tried to get SAGA to close the claim, but getting a sensible response is hopeless. I was in the lucky position of being able to go out and buy another car - the loan / courtesy car that I was entitled to on my policy, never materialised. As, I said previously not a single person from SAGA has contacted me. Disgraceful service - I'm in my 70's and SAGA at one time their unique selling point was that they were a company for the over 50's - I think that USP is now out of the window - they are like any other company - do not appreciate customers - let alone loyalty. I will never use any SAGA product again. Reviewed on: 6th March 2025

quick and simple, good customer service. My only complaint is, like all insurers, prices are automatically increased every year instead of rewarding loyalty Reviewed on: 24th August 2024

The right price the right insurance

Saga provided me with a three year fixed price promise and when I was involved in an accident hit from behind by another vehicle the service and help they provided was excellent. All insurance always seems expensive until you need it and then you realise what value for money your policy is. Reviewed on: 23rd August 2024

20 years no claims but they only provide 1 years proof

1
Car renewal came through 20% increase, this followed a 100% increase on a prior car that had been with them 3 years fixed. However what is really naughty is that having gone to them with 16 years no claims 4 years previously and having been claim free for 4 years they only give you one years no claims externally (although recognise 20 years in their quote). This smacks of a corrupt company trying to make it as difficult as possible to leave them BEWARE ! Reviewed on: 14th August 2024

. Totally rip off merchants

1
Just had my renewal quote for 2024. £1,101,39 . This is an 100% increase on last year when it was £551.63. Been with them for over fifteen years, never had a claim.had a quote from sixteen other companies all were in the region of£400 cheaper than saga. For a five star policy. What does that tell you. They are with doubt profiteering. Got a similar policy from LV insurance less than half the price. If your insurance is due for renewal I would suggest you shop around. Don’t get ripped off by saga.
