Good bank account

Having banked with Santander for 10 years, overall I have found the service to be satisfactory and moderately profitable. I have not seen an account with other banks that I feel can compare. Reviewed on: 9th March 2023

Ease of communicating with them has deteriorated over the last few years

As a long-standing customer I regret the fact that the company decided to withdraw its 'secure messaging' facility from its website. This was blamed (as was 'everything everywhere') on Covid-19. This quick and easy messaging facility was replaced by a 'chat' facility which I have found wanting to say the least. As with other 'high street' banks, the in-branch provision has also been reduced, the effect again being to make customers' lives more difficult. Reviewed on: 9th March 2023

Great bank !

I have been with Santander for over 40 years and I would never even consider changing to another bank. Santander make sure that their customers are protected from fraud and scams, alerting the customers immediately if anything looks suspicious on their account . When contacted by phone customer service are helpful and knowledgeable putting the customer at ease. A few years ago I was the victim of a scam and lost a considerable sum of money. On contacting the fraud department, I was listened to and while unfortunately Santander were unable to help me with retrieving my money back they were supportive and helpful throughout the process. In over 30 years I have never had a reason to doubt their professionalism. Reviewed on: 9th March 2023

Got money for switching and the cashback each month is quite generous on bills and such, even after paying the monthly fee. Reviewed on: 9th March 2023

My account allows cashback on certain bills, with a small monthly fee. One month I forgot to meet the criteria for cashback, they emailed me to notify me that I was making a gain on the account and I could switch to the free account (without cashback) if this one isn't in my interest. Good experience

I have banked with Santander for many years now, originally with A&L before the takeover, and for a majority of those years I have had very little to complain about. The account pays a competitive interest rate along with cashback on household bills. On the few occasions I have contacted Santander by either phone or email (I don't use social media) the queries have been dealt with and answered promptly, the staff are always friendly and professional. I am also pleased that they have kept my local High Street branch open which is a great bonus when so many are closing. Reviewed on: 9th March 2023
