Stay Well Clear of Santander

The worst bank and customer service on the planet! I have had a lock placed on my account and the reason they gave me was that i have used contactless payment too much. Now considering i have spent the last 3 weeks in Singapore and never use the card as i dont want to pay their extortionate rates. I transfer from the bank to Wise. Now they have blocked it and tell me i have to buy something in Singapore and put my pin number in to release the block. Its the only way i can unblock it! Santander are a joke and i shall be closing the account down because of this. Complete failures! still waiting on the line for the fraud team to unblock this bar and been waiting over an hour so far. i am stuck in Singapore without access to my money. great cashback account

i pay all of my bills out by direct debit, and the cashback pays off the monthly account details and a bit extra. nice way to make a little bit of money on my outgoings Reviewed on: 12th February 2018

Student account freebie

Reduced Interest

We used to love our 123 accounts, which gave us a great return on our savings (5%), but unfortunately, since this was reduced (to 1.5%) it's much reduced and our savings are better off elsewhere. Other than that, we really like the account though. Reviewed on: 11th February 2018

Loyal customer

I was with the Abbey National and when Santander took them over I considered moving my account but I'm glad I didn't as the customer service, both in branch and through customer service centres, has been both professional and friendly. The only improvement they could make is bringing in rewards for loyal customers rather than short term offers to new customers. Reviewed on: 11th February 2018

Reliable and reasonable.

I opened a 123 account some time ago.I have always been pleased at how Santander have until recently offered a reasonable rate of interest. I like the regular paper statements. Reviewed on: 11th February 2018

Easy to use

Online banking and banking with mobile easy to use and troublefree. Still got a local branch to visit when needed. Staff are always helpful and friendly. Paying in cheques using my visa card means no more filling in bank giro credits. Pays me interest and commission which always outstrips the monthly charge - would have scored higher but the rewards were cut last year. Reviewed on: 11th February 2018

123 Account

Savings & Banking in one.

This account is good if you have approximately £20000 in it, and use it for direct debits for bills. However, tax is payable on the interest, and with the monthly fee, it becomes an average account. Reviewed on: 11th February 2018

Great value interest

I find that the worthwhile interest rate offered on a current account means there is no need to keep swapping funds to and fro from a savings account, so my money is always earning the maximum interest available. Reviewed on: 11th February 2018

No problems here!

I have only had a positive experience with Santander and I've been with them since they took Alliance and Leicester over. I love the cash back on the 123 account and the online app is very easy to use. Reviewed on: 11th February 2018
