Used to be great but benefits of a 123 current account has gone down hill

I originally switched to Santander 123 current account from HSBC as I had a bit of cash saved up that I needed access to but wasn't going to be spending in one go. When I opened the account, Santander offered 3% interest on savings over £5K and under £20K - slightly higher than the rate of inflation at 2.6%. They quickly dropped the rate though and started offering 1.5% only. Better than nothing, but you do pay to have this account and unless you have a large energy consumption, you are unlikely to make back in cashback what the account costs to have. A clever marketing trick, would not recommend to anyone. Reviewed on: 2nd January 2018

Easy as 123

The 123 account is easy to set up and you can gain interest on a variety of every day direct debits you have on the account and also on the amount you have in your account. One of the better accounts still around now Reviewed on: 1st January 2018

Santander account

I have always had happy banking with my 123 account, making money for paying bills through them Who wouldn't want to earn money when paying bills !! Reviewed on: 1st January 2018

Always reliable and never encountered any problems

Staff are always friendly in my local branch and I have never encountered any problems. Details are accurate and online banking seems to be OK, though I prefer a visit to the branch. This is no reflection on the system. I just have reservations about the whole idea of online banking in general. Reviewed on: 31st December 2017

Santander on top

123 Graduate Account

Had a great customer service experience when opening my Graduate 123 Account. Initially enticed by the 3% monthly interest on account values of up to £2000. Although I must say Santander customer service is great, it was also a little too much which I found a little offputting e.g. personal banker saying she would phone me to find out how I am getting on. I understand this from the banks point of view but I find this a little odd. Other than that, they are one of few banks offering a great high interest current account rate.
