Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Lifeline

I am disabled and have found life so hard over the last three years, the cost of living just about finished me. I was drowning in interest fees and higher heating and food Bill's, step change helped me work out a payment plan that I could afford on my disability benefits. I was crippled with anxiety and depression they took me step by step asking whether I was ok to carry on even talked to my daughter on my behalf. I owe everything to them life is still hard but I feel more like I can manage each day. Once again I can't thank the team enough they have saved me. Reviewed on: 13th July 2023
