Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Help when needed

I thought I was beyond help as my debts were out of control. The moment I contacted Stepchange they were so accommodating and efficient. They worked out a healthy amount I could pay each month and dealt with all creditors on my behalf. Gave me hope Gave me a life

I can't praise stepchange enough I have a IVA with them. I was drowning in debt I felt so low it was a tough time the process was smooth they helped all the way and have been fantastic ever since if I've had to contact them or during my annual review. I always recommended them to people if I hear there struggling. There is still a taboo about debt it's only certain people etc but that is far from the truth it can and does effect everyone from all different walks of life and backgrounds. Stepchange support you every step of the way give you hope in the dark days give you a life back and eventually the aim is to be debt free. Just over 12 months for me and I will have finished they do except you to want to do it and follow the required procedures which is how it should be it's going to feel amazing keep up this incredible work stepchange Reviewed on: 13th August 2022

Highly recommended

I had problems financially & ended up in debt, with credit card & bank loans mounting. This situation was really worrying & I was so stressed about my situation & didn’t know how to try & resolve the predicament I was in. Then a friend suggested I get help from a charity that helps people with debt management, I did then approach Step Change & they have transformed me life, by helping me manage my finances & gradually pay off my debts in a consistent & manageable way. Since then it’s been 8 years now, & I’m much more careful with money & with step change’s help I haven’t accumulated any further or new debts, which is such a relief.
