Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Easing the burden.

After getting myself into trouble with money I was on the verge of declaring bankruptcy,which I didn’t want to do. At the time there were many adverts on the television about reducing your debt burden with different companies. When I looked into it I found out that a lot of the money I was going to pay them was their fees with only a small amount going towards my creditors. I then found out about Stepchange either through a TV program or listening to Moneybox on Radio 4.I contacted Stepchange,I will admit to being nervous as I thought I would be in for a bit of a telling off for getting myself into such debt. The person who I spoke with then wasn’t in anyway judgemental,he explained how it all worked and he went through my expenditure with me. I have had the same experience with each member of staff who work at Stepchange,extremely helpful, nonjudgmental and kind. With their help sorting out my finances it took a lot of weight off my shoulders . I believe that my creditors hold them in high regard as they know they are dealing with honest people working to help the debtor and the creditors. If you are in trouble with your finances I couldn’t think of a better organisation to help and guide you to solving your money problems. Reviewed on: 25th May 2025

StepChange have been absolutely amazing helping me pay off my debts. I have had experience with other DMP companies but my progress was always very slow. This was because they would take a sizeable percentage for themselves as a fee. StepChange took care of my debts for free! I am on my last month of paying aaaalll of it off and I could not be happier! SC customer advisors have always been very supportive, understanding, kind, and helpful. Best decision I've made to be debt free

I was at my wits end and overwhelmed by my debts. Stepchange helped me make the right decision to which debt management solution would be best for me.
