Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Brilliant, friendly and helpful. Life changing

Absolutely fantastic. I have mental health issues and cant communicate well on the phone regularly, but stepchange advisors were happy to help me via email. When I was able to talk to the advisor in the phone, they were friendly, non-judgemental and very helpful. My dmp was set up quickly and easily and i can now manage my debts with affordable payments. Saved our lives

We didn’t know what to do, our debts were running away from us! when my husbands health meant, he had to retire early, and due to me working full time we were not eligible for any benefits. That meant we struggled! If it wasn’t for the kindness and respect I was shown when I phoned them… well I really do not know if we would still be here. Because of them we do not have ‘threatening’ letters and we are managing just. However when things change for us again they are there with respect and kindness. Reviewed on: 12th August 2022

Helpful without feeling judged

It was very hard for me to accept I had a gambling problem and managed to get myself in excess of £40k debt - Step change helped me to sort my debts out without being judgemental & I’m now over half way through paying my debts off. I don’t have to deal with different companies - I pay one lump sum to Step Change & they deal with everything else. Stress free & I can see light at the end of the tunnel now - thanks to them.
