Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Safety and re-assurance has been secured.

Since the beginning last year, we have been advised, and updated on status and felt re-assured by Stepchange. We feel safe knowing we can retain control of our finances once again. i look forward to ending this arrangement in years to come, or sonner if conditions allow. Reviewed on: 25th May 2025

I couldn’t keep up with my debts.

I owed £8000 on a low income. I thought I would never pay it off . I was just managing the interest. 24 months later I’ve almost finished paying off the full amount. I’ve 10 months to go. I am so very very grateful. Reviewed on: 25th May 2025

I used StepChange to set up a DMP.

I used StepChange to set up a DMP. They were very helpful and still are now the plan is up and running. I have had to call them on occasion and mostly they are very courteous, I only had one negative experience with a receptionist and felt her tone was very judgemental. I feel she let the rest of a very helpful team down in this occasion. I most recently contacted them as I was had an issue with one of my creditors and the service I received was amazing. The sorted everything out and wrote a letter to my creditors reminding them of the agreement they had made. I am able to check my account online which is perfect as my working hours are not always conducive to calling in office hours. I would definitely recommend. Reviewed on: 25th May 2025
